I had one of those switchblade combs when I was a teenager. It was a piece of crap but it was fun nonetheless.

In recent weeks this topic has come up a lot, and I think a dedicated thread would be the best to discuss it in, instead of hijacking others threads.  I'll give my take first.

If my family or loved ones, or even a stranger was in distress, and someone was hurting them I would do whatever it took to stop that from happening. This doesn't always mean hurting the attacker; quick thinking and quick feet can come into play.  However, if backed into a corner I will use what ever I have one me or what I can find to save my life and those around me.  I often carry a OHO "tactical" folder ( I feel tactical is becoming overused, but it fits in this context), and have trained with blades in the past, as well as pressure points and other self defense maneuverers.  Do I solely carry for SD? No, but I know its an option if need be.

SO what is the hostility towards fighting knives?  They are tools, but with a different objective and outcome.

Willing to field both sides, but, lets please keep it civil to avoid it being locked.

I do carry a pocket knife for my EDC. I strongly believe that a pocket knife can prove to be very beneficial in case of any unforeseen emergencies.
If I need to pick some good EDC tools.
Then I would take my love leatherman multi tool wave and a flash light. Other are just a waste !!!

Major necro! If it was fresh, I'd add my two bits, but... nah, not for something this stale.

Sucks when that happens doesn't it Derek?  That's the problem with forums- some people move on and others wonder what the heck happened to them.

I too started reading this thread and was for a few seconds very happy to see some of the older members posting again, and then I noticed the dates. :(

Is tapatalk to blame for some of the recent necros? Tapatalk sometimes suggest some very old threads for me, and present them like they are new.

Google does it for me, before I joined I was looking things up and google would give me a thread on here as a result. Some of them quite old, people probably do this, see it's exactly what they were looking for and don't take the time to realize its ancient.
I'm a total legend..... in my own mind- Herley
