I don't think I need another stick chopper thank you (at the moment   :) )

The blade is a bit too shiny in places, I think he will get a visit from the vinegar fairy  :D

Being it to the meet. I am sure tony won't be able to resist. I would like to pick up some tips from him on restoration.

I probably have the 'big hammer' covered. Fire extinguisher? Yes you better bring one of those if needed. Might not tell the wife that bit.

A friend gave me the above Ax,
Its knackered, the poll is rippled and unsymmetrical
Only good for a door stop

So....

I'm not sure about this yet, I was kinda after a throwing Ax but its a bit too heavy  :-\

If you are really going for the Viking feel, I think you might want to make the top more pointed.  Something like this;

Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

That is nice  :tu:

As I was making mine I was thinking of your throwing Axes, the top curve on mine is sharp, more chance of it sticking in  :)
Think mine needs another trip to the disc cutter  :-\

Did you get it to fall the right way? (BTW the "right" way is anywhere not on your head)

To be totally honest it was supposed to fall towards the camera

I had decided to just use an Axe and no saw so I started with a 'V' at the back ( a mistake but the tree was already leaning towards the camera )
I thought it would hinge 'forward'

But the 'V' was getting too wide at the back so I attacked the edges of the hinge  ::)

About 60deg out

But it missed me and the kettle   :tu:   ( my back hurts  :-[ )

Ah well, at least it didn't do you any damage (other than your back of course). ;)  For future reference I believe you should make the first cut on the front of the tree i.e in the direction you want it to go.  The second cut should be made a little higher and on the back of the tree.  Hopefully it'll then gently fold over into the hinge you made with the first cut and lessen the chances of it doing anything nasty like jumping up at you unexpectedly. :)

That's how I normally do it but using the chainsaw, I was being lazy thinking gravity is on my side and will help me, seemed like a good idea when I started   ::)

I splashed out on a new handle while window shopping at a great tool shop in HighWycombe yesterday  :D

It was close to the right size  :o just needed a bit of filing and sanding

I broke the wood wedge off short as I was driving it home so added the biggest metal wedge I could, but that didn't go in perfectly either  ::)

Just needs some linseed oil, a sharpen and possibly some kind of mask and its finished
(15.5" / 40cms long)
