A Soft touch Explorer

I was curious to see what all the fuss was about. The handles have a very nice soft rubber coating to them.

Are those bumps a pattern or "3D"?

Just a pattern. I must say, these scales give the knife a wonderful grip.

I like the looks of those scales.  I'm not so sure about a rubber coating though - as it may collect lint in your pocket  :)

Also, this SAK is an EXPLORER.  The perfect SAK for any beginner :climber:

Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:
And some condemned for a fault alone." -William Shakespeare, King Lear (1608), Act IV, scene 6, line 169

One thing I did notice with this knife, the small eyeglass screwdriver now has flat edges compared to the older rounded ones. Perfect to stop that little blighter from running away on you when placed on a surface.  :D

But when you compare them, the octagonal one has a shorter shaft now. :/

How does that Phillips fit in there? On my Climber the scissors take up an entire layer by themselves, but here it looks like there's a phillips in there as well  :ahhh

It's on a separate layer, together with the magnifying glass :D

I thought Victorinox only had a GeoTech Tinker? Is this a scale swap or do they sell more models with the new scales? They look awesome! :D  :gimme:

Too bad they are not available in The Netherlands :(

Still would love to see Vics come out with G10 scales.  Different colors though.

I blame the fact it was 7:40 AM on why I didn't see that seethrough basterd xD

Does the hook have the nail file/match striker on the back of it?

Looks like the only thing keeping this from being a "Plus" version is the pen? Right? It has the pin and mini-screwdriver.

That and plus comes with pin and screwdriver, you'll have to buy them yourself on regular.

In the pictures from the seller on eBay, it appears this SoftTouch Explorer comes with the pin even though that's not shown in the pics above, and you can see in the pics above it comes with the mini-screwdriver. Therefore, the only thing that appears to be keeping this from being a "Plus" model, is the lack of the pen.

I wouldn't judge from a picture someone here made that the knife comes with the mini-screwdriver. Many of us have them on stock at home or order them together with a SAK that doesn't come with it and the first thing they do is attach the mini-screwdriver to the corkscrew (I do that, for example...).

The Explorer is my prefered SAK these days, my eyes seem to need the magnifier more and more just lately.

Great pics

Valid point. But the seller on eBay does show the knife with both the mini-screwdriver and the pin, so it does appear that this model is just the pen short of being a "Plus."

That is a confirmed. The knife comes with mini screwdriver, and pin. Does not have the Plus scales with the pen however. Turnstone, I never add things to items I take photographs of.

Good to know!

Turnstone, I never add things to items I take photographs of.
And good to know this, too

I just take pics of my knifes just how they look at the time I take the picture. If I added a mini-corkscrew or a lanyard I wouldn't bother to take them off. (Only if the pictures were for an auction or something like that and I would plan to sell it without these, of course)
