New Selway: Intro level hunting knife.

I didn't know about this one. Looks like a more affordable version of their folding hunters. 420 steel and black scales, and no sharpener. Camo sheath. Should apeal to the non knife-hobby hunters out there...

Whoa, a new Leatherman knife? I musta missed the memo. Didn't know about that one.

Hey, on the subject of Leatherman knives, the other day I was looking at one of the new Steens models. Sweet Mother Of God is that thing huge!! I had no idea...you can't tell from the web pictures. It's waaaaayyy bigger than anything I would ever lug around.

I wonder if they will produce a smaller model with all the same features?

Looks cool...hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg. It seems like a good, basic design. I'd buy one if the $$$ was right. ;)

The Selway is just a Nehalem with a plain steel knife blade.  The handles are the same.

You are right about the Steens, I got one a week ago.  I can't get my pictures to upload so I can't show it off.   :-\

The Nehalem also has a built-in sharpener.

To clarify, I'm impressed with the layout of the Steens and like the features, but it is simply too big for me. That's why I'm hoping for a reduced-size model.

Any way we can help out with the pictures Trickknife?

Where the hell are they coming up with these names?

Am I missing something or are they pretty awful?

Wake me when they release the Winklebottom.  Oh wait, on second thought, don't.

I think Steens is a mountain or a park (or both) in Oregon?

I may be wrong but I thought that Ukiah, Nehalem, and Klamath were named after Native American tribes.

At the risk of sounding impassionate about the plight of the Native Americans, is it a good idea to name your new product after tools used by people who were still in the Stone Age?

Thankfully Leatherman is using names that evoke the great outdoors Westen style. How many units would be sold if names local to me were used;e.g.,Greasey Ridge,Knockemstiff, etc.

At least it isn't named after Brokeback Mountain... that would definately cause some product image issues :P

I read that Selway is some popular hunting spot (I dont know where though). Actually, I like the names in the hunting knives lineup. They are kinda weird, but at least they sound masculine or at least not fruity (Juice/Squirt/etc). I also like knives with names rather than just numbers like the rest of their knives.
