Found this forum while looking for info on the Gerber Legend. LOTS of info here! I've got a lot more reading to do. Anyway, I've pretty much made up my mind that the Legend is what I want so now all that is left to do is the saving of money and the begging of wife. :)

Welcome Crash.  As for begging the wife; it's easier to ask forgiveness, than to ask permission. :D

Welcome, i'm sure you'll love the legend! Which one are you going for the 800 or the 700? Both are excellent tools!

Welcome!!! I've only been here a few days and I'm already up to a gazillion posts, well maybe not that many but my wife is already complaining about how much I'm on here. I told her if she bought me a new tool I'd get off the internet and play with it. As you can see I'm still on here so you can guess how that is going.  :gimme:

Thanks for the great welcome guys. I'm gonna go for the 800. I'll see if I can find one barely-used first and if that doesn't work, I'll go for the spankin-new 70 buck version.

Awesome! The 800 is a pretty nifty tool. Thumbstud one-hand-opening knife blade, and thumbstud one-hand-opening scissors. (You don't see that too often!) The spring-loaded pliers are nice too. :)

My only concern is how wide the pliers open. From what I've seen in pictures, the jaw width may be a bit on the narrow side. Anyone have the exact numbers in comparison to maybe a Wave? <---prolly not the right forum for this question so I'll start a new thread if need be.

I measured the jaws of a bunch of tools a while back, but the 800 wasn't included since I don't have one... yet!

I'll try and get a comparison pic of the wave and 800's jaws done for you.
