Cybertool 41 or Swisschamp? Which is a more practical gift?

I know both of them have a lot of similar tools, but I am really up against the wall on which of the two to get as a gift..

Any opinions would be great..

To me, the Bit Driver is hugely more useful than the fish scaler and magnifying glass.

I love EDCing my CT41.

I'd go for the 41 too, unless they happen to go fishing!

I rarely carry my Champ as it is a bit big for my pocket and has things I don't use. They both make top presents though  :tu:

A few weeks ago I'd have said the Champ.  After getting a CT though, no question, go for one of those.
I'm back!!

i own both and the one i keep coming back to is my black plus scaled 41 in black leather pouch.
the ct has the phillips and more bits. i already wear glasses so no real need for magnifier.
me, i've never been fishing and probably never will. so unless the one you want to give the sak to has a furry dog or horse she/he wants to use the fishscaler on as a comb (read that on sosak a while back) go for the ct.

@@ cheers, HP

Toss a coin :D

Bit driver is cool ... magnifier is cool (I almost always carry a SAK with one)...  descaling tool..... OK, not so cool but its always handy to have something to randomly prod stuff with  :pok:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I'll risk this generalization: maybe the champ would be more useful in outdoors camping situations, whereas the 41 is more indoors. My justification: the scaler can be used as a fork at a pinch, the magnifying glass for making fire (?). The drivers are for more technical applications. I chose the 41 myself.

Owning both, personally I much prefer the SwissChamp as an EDC. However, as a gift my vote goes to the CT-41 without a doubt. It's got that nifty "gadget factor" with the driver, is a lot smaller and lighter so the person receiving it is much more likely to carry the thing, plus it comes in Sapphire: the end-all-be-all of scale colors  :D

I thaught CT41 is discontinued, is it??

I personally have SwissChamp to backup my Vic Spirit X, but I'll go to CT34 for backup rotation....

I would go with the Ct 41 , simply based on the fact that i want one . The drivers are the selling point .

All that said the SwissChamp makers a splendid gift too .

I used to use the CT34 and Swisstool Spirit, but now just use my new CT41 (that I had to ship over from Germany to the UK).

Awesome tool - for me the bit drivers are far more usefull than fish scaler and magnifying glass - I dont go fishing and I've had my eyes laser corrected. :) I use all the tools on the 41, and don't wish for any more.

As others have said though, the Champ is great too. (just not as good as the 41!)

Both are great, but the cybertool is so much more useful for everyday use, in my opinion.

Do these knives, both the Cybertool 41 and the Swisschamp hold up well to the test of time? Or will they break after a year?

They both have a lifetime warranty. And if you use them the way they are supposed to be used they will last.

But if you abuse them, they might break on the first day  :twak:

In general they will stand up. It MAY break the little spring in the scissors but thats very very easy and cheap to replace. For that matter I'm sure it's covered under the warranty, but realistically it may be several years before that even happens. Take care of it, don't abuse it, and a good SAK can be passed down to your grandchildren.

Both come with lifetime warranties and most people never have to make use of the service :)

I find both too big to EDC I prefer the 34 or 29 myself.

The 34 is nigh on the same as the Swisschamp IIRC.

34 is smaller than the champ. Hell my CT41 is significantly smaller than my SwissChamp. I've gotten so used to the Champ that the Cybertool actually feels too small now lol.

I had a CT34 & yep the bit driver is VERY natty but not natty enough for me too keep , so I traded it.
Is the CT41 more bulky than the SwissChamp  :o :o :o :o

Swisschamp is the classic SAK so my vote is for the ; Champ Champ Champ Champ  :D :D They do not call it 'The Champ' for nothing  :D :D

The CT41 is slightly thicker than the Swiss Champ.

Both are very durable knives (unless you abuse them horribly!)

Get one of each!

As radioz mentions the CT-41 might be slightly thicker, depending on the precise models and construction I've seen a 1/2mm difference, but consider it insignificant. Also depending on the precise models/tools they can also weight almost the same, but as per SAKwiki data the Champ can sometimes weight under.  For all basic purposes they can be considered equal on the physical specs.

You know what? I was thinking of the 34. don't know why I was so convinced I owned a C41 lol. Yeah the 41 is basically the same size, 34 is a fair bit smaller.
