Texas Renaissance Festival
on: October 17, 2010, 02:47:27 PM
This was my second time to visit the Texas Ren Fest and did i ever get my 19 bucks worth out of it :D  I saw a Fire Whip show...that's right..some guy lighting kevlar whips on fire and smacking things off peoples hands. There were jousters, bellydancers :o, wenches, knights, wizards, gypsies, fairies, pixies, storm troopers, vikings......oh my!

I arrived at 9am that morning and didn't get back home until almost 2am. There was an awesome bagpipe group called Tartanic tearing it up out there. My friends were camping up there so i stayed for burgers then went to the drum circle later that night. Basically if you have a drum you go there so the bellydancers have something to gyrate to.

and some pics

Yeah, the Texas Renn Fest is run by and made up (mostly) of the same group that does the Renn Faire up here by me when it's warmer. I went this summer and it was VERY cool. My GF is still debating having a full set of armor made for herself by one of the leatherworker groups there (god that would be hot   :o ). I only caught a bit of the firewhip show, dude is kinda nuts lol.

the blacksmith was making knives, eating untensils.....even a spork!

too expensive for me though :P

photography was forbidden to protect his designs.....come to think of it most shoppes had signs forbidding photos of leatherwork, patterns garmets. Guess they don't want their stuff copied

Lots of fun  :tu:

Certainly more interesting than a lot of other things you see everywhere that are the same. I really liked Dollywood for that reason - it surprised me with how many traditional mountain skills were on display.
