I think you're slightly better at naming SAK than Neil is as well.  :D
...

I simply stick with Victorinox's convention of reusing names and applying names randomly without much thought as to the actual end use :D
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Just a thought Micah, how are you going to get your SAK over?  Checked luggage I assume but what with it being a shortish trip I wondered if you were just packing light and taking carry on?

:pok: Don't lose the SAK  :ahhh :)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

In that case ICFT is better at naming SAKs than Vic is as well.  :D

Yeah as much of my toolkit as possible will be in checked luggage.

Will carry on other stuff like laptop, camera, mobile, PDA
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

My stab at improving the Mechanic was this:
....  Mine was christened the Master Mechanic.  :D

That's actually a great mod too, because a good mechanic is going to need a file, and without the inline technician's driver available any more the back side fine-screw driver might work for in frequent use.  Also a good name.  :D

So if we take Neil's mod, and add a file and the fine screwdriver... we would have the Master Journeyman Mechanic.  A really nice knife!

As for naming, Victorinox surprises me but Wenger just does not even try.  I can sort of understand though because there are so many ways to use any SAK that has little to do with it's name.

...as for the Journeyman... the weekend is coming and it won't be there on Monday.

I have had similar dilemmas myself and I think the Cybertool or one of Neil's mods are your only possible answers at the moment.
The perfect SAK still remains elusive to be honest.

It's a PITA for sure - I like having a phillips but don't want the screwdriver so I'm stuck with the backspring one. There's just nothing else that goes opposite the inline one that I need!

I did try at one stage a bottle opener opposite a phillips combination.  It looked like it should work after a bit of filing.  I had real issues with the tools galling on the backspring though and have given it up for the time being.  A materials and pressure thing that I'm sure can be resolved eventually but I have many little projects vying for my attention :D
