Greetings from Finland.
on: December 05, 2010, 04:59:13 PM
Hi all and thanks for your excellent board. Sorry for my poor english, this will be a good practise for me. So how did I found my way here? Well I was looking xmas present for my father-in-law - didn't find one but I saw add of Skeletool in local magazine. It didn't take too long to realize how big difference there is in price tags between local stores and international web stores so I ordered one from UK. While waiting my new tool to arrive I remembered that present I was originally looking for. Skeletool would be too hi-tech looking thing for him so I went for information of other models and... here I am. After a short research I decided to for a ST300 and ordered one from UK. On a same day I spotted Sawmans ST300 for sale and realized that I propably can't sleep my nights if I don't get one for myself too. Next time I'll choose a model that has scissors so I can cut my credit card in half...

I have to admit one thing - I have hated Leathermans since I saw first one in early 90's. Reason for it is that coolest tool I knew was old and big SAK (Officer?) I got from my father long time ago, after LM's came to stores every magazine told how SAK's should be considered as toys and that didn't make me too happy. It took about 25 years to get over that. :D After all I love tools that have some sort of a story behind them, last xmas i bought mini maglite (and of course 3 watt led and tailcap switch for it) for my father-in-law knowing that there is dozens of flashlights which are cheaper and more powerfull, but for me those are just aluminium tubes in different shapes with tactical sounding names. No offence, those are great tools but my daily use isn't so demanding that I would need top-of-the-line performance. Same thing with LM's now when I'le learned to like 'em - maybe not beast bang for a buck but I'm willing to pay some extra for the story behind of a tool. Some may say that I'm just sentimental fool but it's okay :D

Thanks again for everyone - I appreciate all that information I've got from here!

Welcome to the forum mate.

By the way, there's very little wrong with your English.  It's a whole load better than my Finnish anyway. :D
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Mtool, it's great having you here at the forum and it's been a pleasure dealing with you (super fast payment).  I think you'll like the ST 300 just fine but as with any multitool, you may find it is best complimeneted with a nice SAK  :climber:
