Cool :)

Maybe if you fit in the large bitdriver, you can use the rest of the handle for bit storage?

have a Charge AL, which replaced an ALX I lost. I  like the AL better- to me the fixed straight & the scissors are a more than fair trade for a second large bit driver.  Don't miss the gut hook either.

Two questions...

1) the bottle opener function is AWFUL.  Is there a way to mod a Vic SAK cap lifter in it's place? Sacriledge but really.  I don't open cans.  I open beer.
2) What is holding these together?  The screws at the plier and end pivots look like 24-sided bolts?  how do I tighten this bad boy up when it gets loose?  I had my ALX for more than a year and it was getting a LITTLE loose.  I'm a mechanic and use it frequently.  Want to know how I can adjust it like my various BM/Spydercos - wish the body screws were Torx...
3) Design is great.  Build quality is incredible.  F&F is iffy- if a blade like the main plain edge on this came out of the Kershaw factory someone would get fired.
4) Why is this the only LM that has a good blade steel?  154CM instead of 420HC.  That and the TTi with crucible S30V...

Your question re "what holds it together" is something that I'd be keen to know too. I've often wondered whether those splined pins unscrew with some sort of tool or are a type of rivet.

I specifically didn't but a TTI because I don't like gut hooks, I'd be more likely to cut myself than anything else with one  ::)  Shame they don't make a version of the Ti with the new style titanium scales methinks  :salute:

Those screw can be tighened or loosened. Those ar what hold the together. As for as putting a Vic caplift in it, I am not sure. I did put the vic scissors on one. Worked put good.

What do you tighten them with? Two slip joint pliers?

Correct. But I tend to use two vise grips so they don't slip. Might want to tape the scales so you don't scratch the BO.

To be honest, I haven't read much more than a single page in this thread. I just wanted to chime in and let you know how long it takes to fall in love with the Charge: Just about 45 seconds.
A customer came to the shop today to buy some luggage straps. For some reason, they are held together with the plastic-packing with cable ties, which are a PITA to cut. At the same time I was taking my Squirt P4 out of my pocket, he took a Charge from his belt-pouch and started looking for the gut hook.

Even though it may have seemed a bit odd to him, I couldn't help but ask if I could see it for a minute. I only got to opening the two one handed blades, before handing it back to him. I didn't see exactly what model it was, but when comparing to Leathermans pictures it was either a TTi or XTi - the scales looked more like the TTi, but the blade was made of 154CM steel, not S30V.

tl;dr - In 45 seconds I went from "nah, too bulky and big" to "I want it, noooow!!"

Oh, in case that it might actually be someone from in here: The owner was a male, driving with german license plates, but speaking with a somewhat british accent. If you're in here, you should know you've made me very jealous.  :ahhh

I have a couple of the older LM Charge TTi models and sometimes find it a bit more tool than is necessary. On those occasions an Alox SAK sometime gets the nod. But the standard 93mm Alox SAK doesn't come with some of the features that are box stock on the Charge TTi. Namely, scissors, locking blade, higher wear resistant blade steel (CPM S-30V), diamond abrasive file and removable pocket clip. So that got me thinking, maybe a Charge TTi with less could be more for occasions when my needs don't require a fully blown TTi.
So this is what I ended up doing some months ago. It's pretty light, has become a goto tool and does the business with great compactness and competence.

Ever since the first time I saw this I really wanted to do one of these. I would probably do two blades though.

If I ever get my hands on some parts it will be on the to do list.  :tu:

The second blade would probably have to go on the inside.

I could go saw instead of file then right?

I believe so.

I just remembered Metro had a two blade hack, maybe the mjölnirman?

So maybe there is enough room to adjust the grind.

One problem with just fitting blades to both sides is that the detent indent on the blade would be on the reverse side for the non-native blade position.

This is a very cool mod.  I was looking at it and thinking it would be neat with a squirt size pliers at the knife end.  Like the Vic pliers just a wee bit larger.

Has anyone successfully put a Wingman package opener on a Charge?  I have a new TTi and want to swap out the big flat head screwdriver for the package opener.  It looks like it is longer and may interfere with the pliers when closed though.

It's longer and more importantly - much wider. So you're likely to run into few issues first up.

If you're keen on package opener, why not modding that big screwdriver just slightly under the tip by adding a notch for package opening? Two birds one stone so to speak.

This weekend I got myself a brand new Ti! It was still in the box (Isn't now!) with all of the accessories. I've always been interested in the charge line but couldn't justify the cost. I saw this one for $50, so I had to jump on it. Not sure it will replace my Skeletool CX for edc use, but I'm very impressed with it.
