Christmas gifts made
on: December 07, 2010, 09:19:56 AM
Just thought I would share some knives I have done up for a few friends as Christmas presents. The recruits were from a bunch of silted up and partially corroded sak's I got. The classics some airport claims. After cleaning up and repairing I then set about making some rimu scales for all of them. Each is a little different from the other in scale design. I then polished and oiled with linseed over a few weeks. Following this I made some pine display boxes for them, intentionally giving them a rough look. Some weave bags made and a slightly modified (to suit mates) instruction booklet and we are away.
Pretty pleased with the finish overall & make a nice unique gift.

Those are very nice, including the boxes.

If you ever think about selling those or simlair then you will have a customer in me !

If the trees blew down the wind and no one was around, would the alphabet song really go backwards?

Nice work and a great idea  :tu:

Cheers, & I wish I had thought of that. I had some glow in dark powder floating around. They are a resin/resin powder mix just to give it the off white colour.
Ah well, next time!

Thanks.
Just one more image I hadn't uploaded. I used clouded transparent paper to print most the instructions on. No real benefit, but has a cool effect in person being able to see through the pages when folded.
