Buell 1125R- anyone have any experience?
on: January 11, 2011, 02:25:23 PM
I'm not a huge fan of crotch rockets, but lately the Buell 1125R has been really catching my eye.

I'm really a cruiser guy, but for some reason this machine really appeals to me.  Anyone know anything about these or have any riding experience?  I know about Buell (and the shaft he got from HD) but I'm more interested in the bike itself as far as handling, reliability etc.

I may have to look into putting one in my garage at some point....

The biggest thing to know is that Buell is out of business.  As time passes, parts will get harder to find.  The upside is, they are going for super cheap now.

Folks who have them seem to really like them.

Yeah, that is the downside.

Coincidentally, it's the boke that Jamie Hyneman of the Mythbusters rode in this video:

Of course his was hotrodded by Eric Buell....  :D

It does look nice but Buell made some pretty cool designed bikes. If you are going for a Buell, why don't you go for something more Buell-like? If you just looking for a nice cruiser, the asian guys make much more superior stuff in almost all departments (handling, power, durability, etc.) so in I'm told.

But to answer your question, no experience here riding a Buell  :D

Actually this is more my thing:

For some reason though that Buell really caught my eye.  I normally like a low center of gravity and never felt comfortable on a crotch rocket as the balance is significantly higher on them- good for manouverability but not good for a comfortable ride.

Honestly, I'll probably go for a cruiser (that Valkyrie has been one of my favorites for a very long time!) but you never know...

The handling is supposed to be really quick and accurate :)

The reliability is somewhat less impressive :-\

having rode a buell i can say the handling is apsolutly spot on and is a pleasure to ride and even better to watch from behind just rides so easy.but there is always a but the power delivery and grunt for what you would think is a powerful motor was shockingly rubbish and unimpressive and i struggled to keep up when it came to gruntand just outright speed.and my kwak z was 10 times better at everything with a few tweeks of suspension and looks better aswell.

I am not a crotch rocket fan. I do not knock them, but I have ridden two and found it not to my liking.

As for the Buell...go with your heart. If you want one...get it.
