Help me out with something.....

Hey everyone, I need some of you guys to do some research for me. A company has been calling my house over the past week or so, when they answer all they do is speak spanish and say one word I can make out, and that's "money order". Well today I get an automated thing from UPS saying that I am getting a package COD from this company....I don't think so. It's like 150 dollars of whatever. So I did some research of my own, they are a company in california that sells clothing (I think) and thier website is www.siglo21usa.com The phone number on the website is what they have on my caller ID. I am obviously not going to accept no package from UPS, COD and all...

What do you guys think? What's up?

I would call the company and try to get more information on the item.  I certainly wouldn't accept or pay for it until I was certain what it was all about.

I would also suggest contacting any credit card or finacial companies you may be involved with to see if there were any transactions made in the last 30 days that you didn't authorize.  I'd also request that any bank or credit cards be replaced with new ones with different numbers.

Chances are, it's nothing serious- probably a company that is fishing for new clients, or a shipping error.  It's possible there's another "David Bowen" out there somewhere who ordered this item, and the shipping department somehow lost the invoice and tried to search their client online, and got the wrong address.

I'd still do some digging, and contact the sender for more information.  Try to find someone who speaks English at the company but be prepared to call back with someone who understands Spanish.  That shouldn't be too hard to find in Georgia!

One more thing, DO NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING.

I don't have that kind of money, you know that  I will simply deny the package. I checked my bank account info and nothing is suspicous. I will call this company tomorrow and ask to speak to someone who speaks engish. It's just odd that they call my house mulitple times in a week and we keep telling them, wrong number...no speak spanish. And then UPS calls on automation. Defintaly doing some diggin, didn't bother me until the UPS thing.

Possibly an innocent mistake but in my line of work you tend to be suspicious of everything .I would check with credit reference agencies to ensure that no credit/loans have been applied for in your name as it takes very little info to convince these loan companies to part with cash and it's a real S.O.B to sort out once someone else has got credit in your name

Well UPS called, they said they had the package for me COD, it seems that the package was to go to a 205 and not the 1504 address that I have. UPS went to a trailer park to where that address is and they didn't have a lot number for the package. All I can think is that my phone number was put in by accident instead of thiers, otherwise the package would have come to my house instead. So it was probably a goof up at this Siglo USA company. All's well and end well.

I agree ten hundred percent.  You think you have financial issues now, wait until you find out that you are also supporting a small black market operation as well!

We shread all of our financial stuff as it is, it's why we bought the shreadder. We use to burn everything but the county won't let us county folks do that no more, gets too dry.
