Please explain?
on: February 28, 2011, 04:10:36 AM
http://cgi.ebay.com/VICTORINOX-ALOX-TRITIUM-RAMBLER-SWISS-ARMY-KNIFE-/280633514176?pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item41570f98c0

I don't understand this auction.  It already has bids, yet the item for sale doesn't show any tritium/glow as indicated in the description.  All I see is an alox rambler with a hole drilled in the scale (looks awful) and some dark photos of a knife.  Also the 2nd to last photo is of someone's fingers with a white spec on them.  What's the deal with this auction?

I know this seller once listed little pieces of folded up white paper, which he claimed were special swiss packaging material.  Not sure what the story is.

The white speck is the tritium.  You can see it inside the knife scale.  That's an extremely small piece of tritium.  I doubt it can glow at all.
This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David

You must be right, I only noticed the spec inside the hole upon further inspection with the brightness of my monitor turned up.  I still can't believe someone would bid on this thing.

I can't believe he'd just crudely drill a hole in the alox like that. It looks awful.

If he used a decent amount of tritium and filled the hole with epoxy to create a nice luminescent dome I could maybe see it working, but that god-awful divot with a completely worthles little fleck in it that will produce zero light is just a travesty. And why the crap would you make a 1/4" hole just to drop in something the size of a grain of sand?

+B has posted about these on his Facebook page. Supposedly the trits are those designed to be attached to watch hands. Obviously very small. I guess time will tell if there is a market for this....

You know the thing is you really can't blame Swissbianco for being the way he is and doing the crap he does, when it's so obvious there are plenty of people willing to hand over their money to the guy for crap like this. If people would stop being stupid then people like SB wouldn't keep doing these things. That knife is a joke, but hey, who are we to judge when people are willing to waste money on it. Like him or not the simple fact is money talks and he continues to prove that whether you agree with him or not, it works.
