Afternoon,

I am getting another SAK soldier repaired /refurbished but this time the blade needs replacing , Now I could pick most any steel for this but I thought what the hell cant be many damascus/damasteel soldiers around :) well not without alox scales.

So any ideas for a scale material that will suit the blade :)

Not sure on the pattern yet but I am sure it will be pretty :)

A few pics

Carbon Fiber

Orange

Desert Ironwood
Fraid no pic of a SAK yet as it is hard to find DI that will handle the springs on the old SAK (But one is coming :) ) so one of Russell's handmades is standing in :)

Black G10

Same issue so a very random shot of some black G10 used on a spyderco UKPK

Oh and just to open up the "other" option

One he did in buffalo horn. (sadly not for me :) )

and one in bocote

I looked at the list of your options and thought "this is a knife that's going to work in black" so went for the G10.  Then I saw the buffalo and knew that was the one. :tu:
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Tricky

I've gone with black G10 but really... I think I'd start a poll :P
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I'd go for ironwood or horn, slightly prefer the latter.

Thanks all for the feed back :)

OK as I have not got one in Buffalo Horn I think I will go for that
.
.
.
.....however I have had another idea , I have a mint victorinox with no year and as these knifes are designed so the blades can be replaced I may go for the option of a standard fiber handle with the Damascus blade.

I can use the plain blade in the horn one :)

It would be an odd choice to pull apart a perfect vintage soldier but I am tempted :)

I like the idea of the fiber handled knife with a Damascus blade and the clean blade with Black Buffalo sounds awesome too.  I like your sensibilities.

Question:  when you say the knives are made to have their blades replaced, what do you mean exactly?

just that the main blade is pinned in the bolster so the bolster pin can be removed without damaging the scales of course if they try to be clever and replace the front pin with brass it does not look so clever :)
