How do I know if my scissors don't work properly? I got a Micra used today, and am disappointed with the scissors, compared to Victorinox knife scissors. But maybe it's just this one....

Could be just that one because my Micras cut pretty good  :salute: Could be a loose pivot  If it doesn't cut paper then take a punch and hammer to the pivot and give it a couple pretty good tap  don't hit it to hard and check it as you go so you don't over tighten it :salute:

Thanks. It cuts paper ok but nothing else. My SAKs will cut right through bubble wrap and other similar materials, but the Micra won't. The pivot does seem a little sloppy, so I can try the hammer. I have a new little jeweler's hammer I've been looking for an excuse to try out...

The Micra should cut those materials as well :salute: Good luck in getting it sorted out, Jim

Hmmm.... for bubblewrap, I usually use the knife of the Micra. Example is when I’m opening a package. Then again, I don’t need to be that precise when opening up a delivered package.

I was cutting bubble wrap to use to pack a knife in for shipping. Not that I can't do it with a knife blade (I have several hundred knives around here, and many of them have scissors in them), but I was wanting to try out the Micra's scissors to see how they work on tougher materials.

Micra scissors  don't work well on bubble wrap. They do cut most things pretty well but some softer materials get stuck in between the blades. It's hard to beat Vic scissors for stuff like that.

Ok. I gave it a few whacks. It's stil a little floppy, but it cuts cardboard now with relative ease, but not bubble wrap, so I reckon that's all I can ask for. Those SAK scissors sure have me spoiled for what they can cut. I just gave my wife an Evo 14 and the scissors (Wenger legacy) are astounding.

I will agree that Vic scissors are hard to beat :salute: I always have a pair with me but the Micra scissors are great for what I need cutting when I use them  Glad you fixed them some and they work better :tu: :like: :like:

I was a believer in Micra scissors but I've jumped to the dark side and think Vic scissors work just as well.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

My first Leatherman from early 1998.  I have not treated this little guy kindly, but it has survived my abuse for 23 years.

What kind of logic there is for the number inside of Leatherman tools? Last two digits about the manufacture year?
My Micra has number 0100. Is the logic the same over all different Leatherman tool models?

Yes, that date is January 2000.  Leatherman has been putting those date stamps on all (most?) of their tools since 1992 or 1993.
