Anyone here that uses Tor?

I am at the moment testing out how Tor works, if you don’t know what Tor is it’s a open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance. Think their web page can explain it much better than me https://www.torproject.org/index.html.en

So does anyone use or have used Tor?

Used to. May be flaky at times and is not that good an option if you're after a high download speed. Moreover, it's not a catch-all solution as it functions only with services that do (or can be taught to) use SOCKS proxies. I can elaborate on its technical merits and design considerations if anyone cares...

I have used it a bit for getting around a Smoothwall filter that wouldn't let me go to sites like facebook, etc'.
And for that it worked perfectly, because the Smoothwall couldn't see where I was going so it couldn't block anything.
