Modified SOG CrossGrip
on: April 23, 2011, 02:37:34 AM
I just bought "another" Crossgrip on Ebay. I had one years ago and it was a love/hate  :ahhh realationship. I really liked the pliers, and the tweezers. Everything else I didn't really like esp, the joke of a screwdriver. Anyway, since I caught the "mod" bug and my Style/Skeletool mod came out so well, I have hope I can improve my new CrossGrip.
I was wondering if anyone has done any mods to theirs, I searched but am not finding any posts??

I can't recall anyone modding their CrossGrip  Not because it is "already perfect" or anything like that I'm sure, but just because not many folks own one. :-\

What changes are you thinking about doing if I may ask? :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Like my other mod, I would like to change blade to a serrated, also if I can find a real phillips head that will work in it I will do that. I like the phillips/bottle opener in my small Vic that came free in along with my Spirit. If that would work in it that'd be sweet.

if I can find a real phillips head that will work in it I will do that.

I transplanted the Phillips from a Micra into mine and it fit perfectly.  Then I ground down the original flat Phillips into a usable flat screwdriver.  Both work far better than the original tools.

I'm still trying to find the time to get to this mod.  :twak: Not enough hours in my days lately. Still plan on doing this mod. When I do, I will post the pics.

I reground the blade into a traditional V shape within minutes of getting mine, the original edge is horrible.

But other than that I haven't done anything, there is really no way to do anything since there's no room, and I don't want to give up anything else since there isn't many to start with.
