I do believe I'm starting to become addicted to off beat scales  ;)

Took a fancy to some 84mm brass scales I noticed on Fleabay and decided to take a punt on ordering.

Scales duly arrived and were promptly fitted.

I think they look good (although photos do not do them any justice).

What you will not experience is how weighty they are!
This has turned my standard Sportsman into something with heft (similar to the copper ones I mentioned earlier in this thread but more so...).

This SAK now weighs in at 107g compared to the usual 52g -  roughly the same as a Farmer X.

Looking forward to it ageing well...

Those look awesome!

Thanks bud, really like this size and believe that Victorinox is foolish for not bringing back the most popular models in the 84 mm line. 7 mm’s may not seem trivial to some, but it’s a game changer to me.

Really nice 84s. Here are a few of mine a Climber plus and a Tinker plus.

One thing I miss on my Alox Bantam is a keyring. I like to have a little lanyard on the SAK - I find it much easier to retrieve it from the 5th pocket.

I even ordered Cadet, just for the keyring, but the Cadet seemed too bulky (vs. the Bantam) with limited additional functionality (I normally have Rambler on my keys, so I have the bigger knife mostly for the larger blade) so I returned it and stitched a small leather pouch with attached lanyard for the Bantam.

So far I really like it - it added some bulk to the knife, but as I used really fine leather it is not much, literally no additinal weight, it is easy to pull out and the tactile feeling of the leather in contrast to alox is enjoyable.

That looks great, I miss the ring for a pocket clip myself so end up keeping the bantam in my wallet. Personally love the cadet though so not too big an issue for me

Thanks! Cadet on its own would be great, but I try to keep somewhat minimalist approach and to prevent onwership of things I do not use or which overlaps in their fuction (I feel somehow "sorry" for the unused ones).
I do not follow the full minimalism route - I have several SAKs (different sizes and types and I enjoy them) but Alox Cadet and Bantam to me felt too close in their functions and I already owned the Bantam so I came up with this solution.

I suppose the only current production model not here is the Recruit which is pretty similar to a Cadet.  No, I guess there are small versions of spartan and tinker.  They seem too similar to a Sportsman to bother about.  Isn't it amazing that the only 84mm models produced today are 1 and 2 layers?  I would love some additions to this line but I suppose Victorinox is pretty aware of how well they sell so they must not sell well...

I suspect there was always a "gentleman's agreement" between Vic and Wenger over the 84/85mm line.  Now that Vic sells the Delemont range themselves I can't see any expansion to the 84mm range, in fact I'm a little surprised they still do both.

The Sportsman is one of my favourite SAK''s to carry and my personal favourite 84mm. Here it is next to a Sabbath coffee coaster on a quiet Sunday.
