I do like that shade of green - I have it on a baker’s knife  - it would make a great shade for the 2024 PX….

The brass have a nice solid patina on the brushed front and back, while really shiny polished on the sides

Absolutely beautiful.  I assume the pins are flared out just a little and then ground/polished flush with the scales so as to disappear?

Yes. I hit the hole from outside with a awl to make just a little "cup" before i peen. Depending on if the brass in the pin is of similar "mix" as the brass in the scale, they disappear when flush

Cool baker’s knife :like:

For anyone that's never held a bakers knife, those things are wickedly sharp, very thin, and weigh next to nothing.  They're a great candidate for a picnic or a car knife reserved for food, that sort of thing.  Throw one in your checked baggage for travel.

Some Fav's: long nail file models, vintage unusual stainless
Quirk: I like the metal file more than the wood saw

I do really like those 84 mm SAKS.
They make great Companions for a MT. I think my favourite is the Sportsman.
I am looking out for one, as I gave mine away (And now do miss it. You know how that works)
It carries all the Tools needed in everyday life in a small package and a decent Nailfile/cleaner.

A question that occured to me while rummaging through boxes  with SAKs (very small boxes, if my wife does read this!)
I have a Golfer in very good (refurbished) condition. They seem rather rare and I have not seen any on eBay to establish a price point.
What do you think would be a fair prce among us nutty folks around MTO?

And once I worked out why the Forum Software rejects all pics I try to upload, I´ll post some 84 mm picss, too.

Most likely, the file size is too large.

There are several ways to fix this, depending on how you access the forum:

If you use a smart phone, I believe the Tapatalk app does this automatically now.

From any device with email access, email the pic to yourself.  When prompted to choose attachment size, pick something below 512 MB.

If you’re using a Windows PC, open the pic in MS Paint and resize it.

The list goes on…

Just picked this one up.  I believe it's a Wenger Model 1.22.03.  Looking forward to cleaning it up.  Any tips on how to remove the remainder of the broken spring on the scissors?  It' a small piece.

Nice score. Models on Wengers is sometimes really hard to determine, it could  mean that model number is diffrent cause bit digging on old catalog it looks like its Wenger 779 (older file) or 1.22.03 (newer scissor, newer can opener, newer fishscaler) or something else. Wenger had confusing modeling methods for knifes.

But for removing that small piece of spring, i have used small finishing nail. Place nail over spring and start tapping it carefully, when spring has moved try grab it with pliers or keep tapping so long that spring piece pops out.

I have that 1.22.03 model myself

Ah, good to know.  Thank you for that info.  I didn't see that in the wiki.  Guess I wasn't looking hard enough.

Can anyone identify the maker of this 84mm knife which I found in a basket of cheapies?  It feels quite old and well made, but I can't see much to identify it by.  The only stamp I can see is on the main blade saying "Rossmeyer" [see edit].  Things that might be clues for the eagle eyed: the shape of the can opener / cap tool, groove in corkscrew, design of the small screwdriver tool, plus the notches in the scale and liner for opening tools.

EDIT: Gave it a bit more of a clean and can now see that the stamp is "Rost Never", seen before on knives like this: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,67476.msg1727442.html#msg1727442.  Noted there that the knife seems half-decent - so bit of a theme.

Thanks m47 :tu:

It’s a real beauty isn’t it, I’d wanted some smooth green alox (the gold sounds superb) and actually scored these two together. They’re both in great condition too :)
