Big old ugly Chopper
on: May 07, 2011, 01:50:20 PM

I accidentally brought this big old ugly tool on Ebay  ::)

I had a go at straightening the tang but I don't think I got it hot enough and the steel now has a split around 1mm deep  :ahhh
but I thought I will carry on and see how it turns out

What do I use for a handle  .... 'cotton throw Micarta'  :D

As the tang is bent and wobbly so Iwill try to mold the micarta on to the handle  :-\

I didn't have enough resin to do a really good job so I ended up with porous micarta  :(
and a left a bit of a hole at the top front of the handle (I will have to fill it with something)  :-[

After buying some more resin and lots of messing around it now looks like this  :D

Good job mate.  Any idea what it was originally for?

So let me get this straight - you Brits can't buy a multitool with a puny two inch blade from eBay, but you can buy THAT?! :ahhh :D
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

kinda looks like the metal part of a flipper used to flip food on a large cook top found in diners? The edge helps get under food to flip and can also be used to cut up eggs and such when cooking.  Although, 3 lbs would be heavy :)
