What to do with Aus Army (Black) Swisstool
on: May 15, 2011, 09:13:59 AM
I can't decide what to do with my Aus Army Swisstool!

If it wasn't brand new I'd have an easier time slapping it on my hip, but as it's fresh from the box, using it is an irreversible step!

However, I've been unable to choose a good Carry since I lost my Black Blast a few months back, maybe this is it? and it is arguably more user friendly than the original Supertool that occasionally finds its way into my rotation.

It also might be worth something to the right collector (If I trade it on here) or gullible idiot (if I sell it for cash)

So what else do you do with an indecision? Ask the internet!

Help me out fellas!

I say use it! Keeping it in captivity is just cruel  :D

I understand the dilemma, my file backed brass bolstered horn scaled hand made senator had a highly polished carbon steel blade for too long. It took well over a year before I plucked up the courage to hack up an apple with it, but now it's got it's patina it's one of my most used slippies. I loved it before, but I love it more now I can use it and carry it.

I recently bought a SwissTool X and I have made it my EDC, I like carrying it better than my Wave - it has better ergos, more solid feeling pliers and some better tools (awl, chisel, pry tool).

I kinda think that if you sell it you'll spend the money you got and then be sad that you don't have a SwissTool.  Everyone should have a SwissTool on them, just in case!

I think you missed the most important option! :pok:

You should give ot to me so as I can see why so many folks think thier VicMTs are better than the Wave! :gimme:

Seriously, use it fella, you know you want to.

I say keep it as a shelf queen and start collecting multi-tools. If you are worried about using it, then don't. Get another user. Just to let you know, I don't have one of those yet, and I have searched high and low...so they aren't very common.

A little Leatherman information.

You don't sound like a collector so you really have two choices.... use-it, or lose-it!

1. Use It -- you like black tools, this is one of the best, and tools like to be used.  Even used this tool will always fetch a good dollar in a sale.  If you are the type to worry about losing, or breaking something that is preceivied as valuable then you should not even think about using this tool.  Since you're asking the internet, it seems your desire to use this tool is not strong enough.  Maybe check option 2.

2. Lose-It -- Maybe the standard black-oxide Swiss tool is good enough for you; you can have a SwissTool and have it black.  Still an awesome SwissTool it just does not have the extra special touch of being a more unique item.  People on this forum and others are willing to pay crazy money for your mint AUS ST, so you'll be helping someone out, and will not have to worry about it.  The new owner will decide to shelve it or use it, you'll have to live with their decision.

Great find!   Good Luck
