Need some help with a Maglite
on: June 15, 2011, 07:27:43 PM
The good news, is that I got gifted with a Maglite mini AA. Not a bad light by any means, but it cannot compete with newer LED offerings. As I have purchased an aluminium bodied 9 led triple AAA battery powerd light, I can attest to the weakness of a standard maglite.

A friend of mine (works on a merchant ship) has impressed me with a twin AA light, which now I can identfy as Fenix LD20. I was looking to upgrade my no-name led light to someting like that, or at the very least a LD10 type of light.

I know that no matter what I do (or can I?), the AA maglite wont go that far, but since it is a gift and I hate waste, I would like to upgrade it a bit. While I dont need a lightsaber caliber mod, I still would like some decent lummens.

I have checked the nite-eze conversion, now I do live in Spain, and I cant get it here wihout paying an arm and a leg in shipping, even if the led upgrade only costs $9.99.

my question then is, what can I do? maybe import fro m UK (lesser shipping)? is there a spanish based company that other members might know of? can I make the mod myself (I dont particulaty need the tail button)?

advice is apreciated.

Another option is Teralux Mini Mag 2xAA LED upgrade kit. More expensive than Nite Ize but much brighter.

2nd the terralux. Got mine on eBay for America. Cost for shipping was fair.

ok, seems fair enough. I shall await a few more replies, but it seems the choice has been made.

I like the Tera Lux lots , if I still had my old AA mini's , I'd convert them .
