Opening/Tightening Wave's Fasteners
on: June 18, 2011, 05:02:46 PM
Supposed that I won't be able to obtain a (technically should be two) 6 points security torx screwdriver, is there any way to fasten the fasteners because one joint of my brand new Wave is already loose. When I tried to pull the lanyard ring, it wedged against the joint cap and made the whole joint loose.

What you need mate is a security bit torx set you can get them from hardware stores in Australia not sure about were you live  .
If you look up security bits on ebay you should have plenty of options  .

The security bits are hollow so they can be used on Leatherman's tamper proof/resistive ::) :D :D Torx fastners & yep you will need 2 bits.

I only have set and I am able to hold the other wise with a pair of pliers with it's jaws covered gaff/duct tape. You only have to do that the first time because of the threadlocker.

Once undone once, you can use your hand to hold the screw with one hand while tightening.

Why stop now?

Fortunately I managed to obtain two T10 drivers and was somewhat successful at tightening the problematic joint. It seems that there's no threadlocker on the joint because the screws are easy to turn. Should I put blue loctite on them?

Small, flat, decent screwdriver and a hammer. You can brake off that pin in the middle. After that if you still don't have a proper torx you can use an allen key or just grind to  shape another flat screwdriver...

If it keeps going loose then I would use a very small amount of threadlock
