I'm in Canada. It's a big place, but having been raised in a military family I can't say I'm from anywhere in particular as I spent my early years in many different paces. When I got older and headed out on my own I was based in Toronto for some time, although I worked many contracts that took me all over the place.

Now I live on the east coast of Canada so I can be as close as possible to our UK members because they are just the tops!

Like Def my family was is the military, the Air Force. I was born on a Navy base in New Hampshire, spent some time in Maryland and Massachusetts in the USA. Then 3 years in Okinawia, Japan. Before spending most of my youth in upstate New York. I now live in western North Carolina, USA.

I forgot to say that like Def and Prime77 my father was in the military to... The Royal Air Force . I was born on an Airbase about 10 miles from where I live now but it closed down last year

So much history gone . It was the only airbase in Gt. Britain to still have the WW11 Spitfire dispersal pens and the old concrete blast walls left over from the cold war . All the other bases had these features demolished to make way for more upto date defences but because in the event of a war the Jaguar ground attack jets based at Coltishall were never intended to operate from their home base and would be deployed to the front line , Norway was one of the likely places .

My father was a Combat Engineer originally- you know those guys that build bridges capable of supporting tanks from little more than the surrounding shrubbery, all while under fire? That was him. He eventually switched to the Air Force where he went into administrative work, but he always kept that knack for making things work no matter what, which is probably where I get it from. Growing up we had all kinds of appliances that were held together and/or rebuilt with whatever was handy as Dad repaired things with bits of other appliances, toys, etc.

Of course, he passed the hard working genes to my brother fortunately!
