Just got mine yesterday  :multi:

….didn’t realize the skeletool was that small. On the plus side, it can easily slip into whatever free pocket you have and the bit kit is simply a force multiplier for this tool.

Thanks!

It’s still a bit stiff, being newly unboxed and all.  Needs to be used a lot to loosen the pivots a bit more.

As it turns out, I don’t think I’ll be swapping blades with the KB right now - I’ll appreciate the black blade a bit more and when the black starts to scratch and fade, then I’ll go get a KB and swap the blade out.

I’m saving up for the bit ratchet. The thing costs close to USD40 here….and it’s not like my life depended on it nor will I use it everyday.

Congrats on the new Leatherman!   :multi:

Personally, I think that is the best part about the Skeletool.  Leatherman has enough larger tools, so it's nice to have some that have a thinner profile  :tu:

G'Day,

I'm am starting to get interested in a Skeletool again. I had one many years ago and did not gel with it then, sold it on for a good price to a very happy byer...

I'm now starting to look at them again.

To the RX users, how useful is the serrated blade for daily use? I would prefer a PE blade, but the RX interest me as it is nearly a full serrated blade. Has anyone tried sharpening an RX blade?

I have a Topo version that I'm going to use to see if I can get used to it again. I love the look of the blade, but the part serrations do my head in!!! As with many of the LM blades. The only one I can live with is the MUT. I would have loved to put a aftermarket PE blade in that one.

Some pics of the Topo one.

Cheers, Pete

I am a fan of the Skeley in general but have no experience with anything but the plain edge versions :salute: The TOPO ones are nice though  :like:

Not sure where to post this but….

Is the large screwdriver holder on the Skeletool similar with what’s on the Signal? Something about having a ‘lock’ that goes on the groove on the middle of the flat LM bits? Does that question make sense?

Or is the large screwdriver bit holder the same across the line?

The Skeletool has the bit holder incorporated into the tool chassis. It also has a small release mechanism that keeps the bit locked into the holder. The blue letter opener points to the release mechanism for the Skeletool bits.

The Signal bit holder is the same as on the Wave and the Charge. I include a few comparison shots for you.

Oh boy, not even a week into the month and the budget spent. But seriously, I had to safe this little guy. It was the last one the shop had in stock.
Yes, brand new it is  :ahhh

A pitty they ditched the carbon fibre on the CX shortly after.

It carries really nice and I like the overall design. The bit driver is well made. The knife blade is stoud but slices well.
I'm diggin' this Skele thing  :tu:

With all the options for the but driver it has more uses than a Sideclip :salute: unless you add the Tool Adapter to the Sideclip  ;) :D

Is there such a thing as a Skeletool in coyote tan but with stainless pliers?

I saw the coyote tan with black pliers. Are the silver pliers one pre-production or something?

I am not that up to date on all the Skeley variations :dunno:

Maybe someone who is, will be along to help with the answer :salute:

At first I didn’t quite get the appeal of the KB.  I mean with a Vic Waiter always within arms’ reach, I wasn’t really quite sure what the KB was for.  I got the KB for the PE blade to swap with my Skeletool.  Now my KB is technically a KBX.

After a week or so, I found out that it was practically invisible when I’d carry it in my shorts pocket.  It was ideal for basic household tasks like package opening or cutting string to seal trash bags (don’t ask).

It’s the OHO blade at that small size that sets is apart from other tools I have around the house.  Sure, there’s the Sentinel Clip but that’s 111mm.  Sure, there’s the Waiter but it’s not OHO.  Sure, there’s the Skeletool itself but it’s not as compact as the KB(x).  So yeah, I think I’m a fan now and I think the KB just justified its (expensive) purchase price.

I switched blades with a CX version and used a stainless steel blackener. Has been holding up.

Hello Skeletool owners,
Besides the discontinued CX with carbon fiber, are all the spare bit holder pieces plastic? The stainless one looks like it could be metal? TIA!
