I received the Skeletool CX directly from Leatherman and it also uses the cheap molded pivot screws. Guess they've just cheaped out on the build quality of the tool.
That is disappointing to hear. And yet Tim still charges insane retails for this line. This is the kind of shady practices that can result in price controls.....

I join this one too!!!

I have the SS skeletool but I replaced the original 420 combo blade for a 154cm combo blade (may have come out of an original series Skeletool cx)

I did pick some DMAX edition. Did not know what that is Think it is some tv channel where are some survivor series etc. It has some red / orange, else I think normal model. I have freestyle cx but maybe I stick with combo blade with this one.(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)

I did manage a long time sticking with combo blade.. Though now freestyle has that combo. Maybe need to find all serrated blade like in resque tool for that. All or nothing. Anyway going to carry skele for a while so let's see.

I received my normal Skeletool back from Leatherman. They repaired the blade I damaged though in the process they replaced my machined pivot screws with those molded ones. Disappointing though at least my blade is functional. Will give Leatherman some credit for repairing a blade I said I damaged sharpening. :D

Think I might pick up their new P4 here soon. Really like my Skeletools but I need something heavier duty for a work edc. Been using my wingman last few weeks and have been mostly happy with it. My issue with the wingman is there's flex in it when it's closed making for a nasty feel when opening the knife. Hoping the P4 doesn't have that issue. Will miss the spring loaded pliers on the wingman.

Glad they swapped the blade for you :salute: still sucks that they changed the fasteners though

Yeah I'm happy they did. I damaged the blade awhile back on my bench grinder and said I damaged it in the warranty claim.

Yeah really sucks about the machined screws. Funny part being, it's less annoying now that both of them have the same pivot screws. Before I'd look at them and seeing the $40 (what I paid) skeletool with machined pivot screws next to an $80 cx with molded screws was really annoying.

Can you state that the original screws have sentimental value?  ;)

Here you go. They seemed to of replaced the blade.

I know. :(

*They also returned the tool with fresh bits in it. I didn't send in my original bits since it said not to. So, extra set of bits. :)

Glad Leatherman's customer service is still excellent. I am bummed however, that they are using cheaper screws and charging the same high price for the CX. I use the CX everyday and will never go without. I am buying a new one on Amazon and shelling out $80+ dollars for molded screws, but the functionality of the tool is worth it's weight in gold IMO.

I can join this one - had my skeletool for years now. It's my go to tool for any jobs around the house as it's by far the easiest leatherman to use plus I have the bit kit which is amazing!  :multi:

Woops forgot to mention that I joined the club. I saw a ridiculous deal fathers day weekend $45 for a brand new in the package Skeletool CX.

couldn't turn that down.

Got to love the New bring "multitool" wallet along side the skeletool. I used the Moca tool in it for extra functionality.

Cheers,
H.G.
