Nice Skeles

I was not the biggest fan early on.  I finally put my CX in my pocket and carried it on my off day.   That was a while ago, and I understood why there are big fans of this tool.  I was always a fan of how it looked so here are my 3.  The blue one I won here on MTO.

Thanks.  It really does.  They didn't do a perfect job but since I never intended on using it its more than fine, plus I won it.

:salute:.  The items I've been gifted by members are my most cherished items.  The items I've won from generous members are highly valued.  The items I got in trade are also very highly cherished and valued.  Items I bought from members are also very highly valued.

The above wont ever be sold or traded.  They will pass on to my kids.  I've actually began the process of making notes about them and who I got them from.

I am not terribly sentimental about things but some of these things come with such generosity that they are symbols of those people.

Yes, they are symbols of the people for sure :tu: Glad to have been a part of this community over the years and because of that I have several sentimental tools to remember several people by

So I lost my Skeletool standard.

It’s been my EDC for 2 years... And going back to a SAK spartan just wont cut it anymore.

The last two months have sucked Searching every nook & researching and looking for a suitable replacement tool...

I even trawled where we set up on the beach for surf sessions... went and handled the rebars, crunch, The new P2 and P4’s which just somehow suck cause they way overpriced... the free SX even started checking out the SOGs... But somehow they just didn’t sit right in the hand.... was about to hit buy on a SOG powerpint and a medium Honeybadger straight edge flipper when I lost my card down the side of our leather recliner... flipped the whole thing over and blow me over with a feather!!. part tucked, part clipped to the inside of an interior hem was my missing Skele!!! .... couldn’t have been more stoked than if it was a returning pet!

That was yesterday...
24 hrs later armed with a Dremel, some frogz Eggs and a need to Customise my precious EDC so it can’t slip into someone else’s pocket...
This is what I’ve come up with.

Rem pocket clip - ergonomics
Solid carabiner - feel
Landy press-studs - personality
Mag bit holder extension - for 4x4 and Bike work

I’ve grown to love the 420C combo blade... being able to whittle a branch and cut through synthetic tow rope one-handed whilst chassis deep in marsh is a thing of beauty a straight edge blade just doesn’t pull off quite so effortlessly.

I’d love a diamond file though... anyone pulled off a Skeletool SX with a spare bit holder mod? That might just the perfect tool...

Else I’ll just have to save for a crunch when the going gets tough...

I feel your loss manningtj!! I’m so happy you’ve found you’re long
lost Skele too!
Mine never leaves my sight which is why it looks so messed with! I think every
machine tool in my shop has touched it in some way or another.
Ain’t it funny how this simple little hand tool can almost become a life partner
in some ways.
Love the personalisation you’ve done as well! I’ve read somewhere that the
diamond file may wear/scratch on pants pocket or sheath if mounted on the outer
sides of Skele’s but haven’t tested it either.

Cheers!

Welcome to MTO manning and glad you found your Skele.  :salute:
I have lost mine a few times. If only they made ways of clipping them onto stuff so they didn't get lost....  :dunno:

If you were still looking for a replacement, have you looked at a Signal?  :pok:

I'm not sure if anyone has somehow modded in the file/saw holder from a Surge but I'm sure it has been pondered.
