Need to know how old it is:
on: August 16, 2011, 02:06:50 AM
Someone I know can help me:   I won and received a Victorinox SAK off E-bay and got it today...well, my wife did back home in the USA...she SKYPED with me and showed it to me while I am stuck here in Mesopotamia.

Anyways, here is the description:

Overall, good shape for its age.  No cracks or chips in scales.  Blades are scratched, but not abused. No broken blades.  No sign of electric sharpener mistakes on the blades (whew!!)

Red handles, bail, no toothpick or tweezers at all and the scales have no recess (never made for them), standard Vic logo.

Implements:
-Large Blade marked Victorinox, Switzerland, Stainless Rostfrei on one side; other side is Victoria Officer Suisse with cross and crossbow.
-Small blade is clip-point blade, not modern spear shaped blade.
- Wood Saw
- File with metal saw, does not have fingernail cleaner tip
- scissors with older-style spring that does not double over, black in color
- bottle opener and screwdriver, wire bender, I THINK from looking at the pics on e-bay, curved part is sharpened for stripping wire
- can opener with screwdriver tip, has PAT on one side
- awl on bottom
- Phillips screwdriver with file on inside, flat style (not round), no can key slit

I am pretty sure this is an older Master Craftsman......

How old is it???

Thanks.

Sounds like it's from the 60s, the clip point blade was discontinued in 1973. But it may be even older, I have no idea when they introduced that type of awl
Edit: the awl says it's post-1961.

How old is it???

Is this the knife?

This is a standard late 1960s Master Craftsman. This exact style of knife (small awl, bail) was made from about 1962-1968. The only change during that time would be the wood saw. This one seems to have the later style symmetric tooth saw, dating it to the latter part of the period - say in the 65-68 date range. The Master Craftsman version of this knife from this period typically does not have the T&T, while the Ranger version almost always does (for whatever reason).

Nice get.

Nice one!  I love those old Cellidor models.

Unless it sold, there as an A&F Fisherman for sale with pouch.  I passed because I already have an LL Bean Vic Fisherman from the same time period.....but I have been looking for a Master Craftsman for a while now.  Would like to get an unmarked 1980's or 1990's (if they exist) Master Craftsman to carry.

Well, I will enjoy it later...I have SEVERAL more moons to go here in the Syrian Desert before I get to enjoy it, and several other SAKs, I own and have won recently.

I did not know that. I have a Master Craftsman from that period that does have the T&T.
