Is there an LED conversion for the Maglite Solitaire?
Quote from: Nomad on December 10, 2007, 09:24:00 AMIs there an LED conversion for the Maglite Solitaire? I don't think you can buy one off-the-shelf, but there are a couple of DIY mods here; http://www.flashlightreviews.com/mods/solitaire.htmhttp://www.flashlightreviews.com/mods/solitaire2.htm

There are some off-the-shelf upgrades. I'll try to find them.

I'm a bit of a luddite (a fact that a lot of people here will be quick to agree with ) and I still rate the humble solitaire, spares are easily available, as are the batteries, it costs peanuts to run, and if you do happen to break one it's not the end of the world as there pretty cheap Also not being very powerful is an advantage if all you wana do is read a map, or find the key or than change you've just dropped
plus it's really hard to break

I never did give my $.02 on the MagLED, so I guess no time is better than the present.I think Maglite has really dropped the ball on the MagLEDs, due to the very poor design of the regulation. The regulator circuit maintains an even brightness throughout the battery's life, but instead of dimming toward the end to warn the user that the batteries need to be replaced, it just shuts off. This is a very bad thing in some situations if you don't have a backup light handy.
