My love/hate affair with Opinel's has been in full swing of late, with my old number 6 stainless being I my pocket non stop for a few weeks now. I've been fooling around with Opinel's since about 1980, and I hate them for being so fiddly, but I can't ever stay away long because I LOOOVE the way they cut. Aside from Victorinox SAK's, the Opinel in the only other brand of knife I fool with. I'f I'm going to bother to carry a dedicated knife with no other purpose than cutting, then I want a knife that cuts like the dickens. And Opinel's do cut like the dickens!

My old number 8 and 12 live in the kitchen drawer, and see service almost every day. But my number 6 is a n ice pocketable size so it goes out of the house on a regular basis.

Opinel's, for when you really have to just cut something! :tu:
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

I feel somewhat like cbl51 about my Opinels. They cut wonderfully but I can't seem to carry mine for more than a day or so.  I do keep on in my camp cook kit tho.  Its a great knife and while single purpose, one that does it exceedingly well.  I just can't seem to keep in my pocket for more than a day or so.  I've given a lot away over the years and all reports back were favorable.

BTW love the serrated version  :tu:

I never carry my Opinel knives.  To me, they don't feel like pocket knives at all... To me they are "portable" knives.... And only for food prep at that.  My #10 stays open in the kitchen, and the #8 comes along for road trips.

Yes - I think the same EB - I keep one in the kitchen drawer that comes out on picnics

I suspect that a couple more may be added to the camping stuff in the next couple of weeks!!    :D     :o

As for the pocket - It's the same old, same old - 'Why do I need anything other than - and what is better than - my SAK?'

Here's my newest one; a slimline no15.  Obtained through a bit of horse trading with an old friend.  It's definitely destined for the kitchen drawer.  :D

😁 There's so much good designs on the Internet and you guys know I love to tinker with stuffs. The blades and handles are ideal for this hobby. Knife laws sucks here. I have no need for any piercing so my blades usually doesn't have a pointy tip. More for utility work. And the oho, I just can't get used to using 2 hands operated knife. And, most importantly, in my opinion, a oho knife is more discreet in operation than having the action of using 2 hands.
