Got a 1908 model B today (not sure if it is Swiss or a German copy)

very odd tang stamp which I have not seen before

It appears to be a pair of scissors with the handles formed from the letters GS with an S on the scissors cutting a B ..... photo will be better :)

so any ideas :)

A knife made by Girl Scouts that Snip Boys?

They look like Vics to me.

Maybe they are were special made for a company?

Wish I had those knives

It might be 'Graef & Schmidt', who (according to Levine's Guide to Knives) were a German/American agency for Henckles from the 1880s to the 1940s, and also made knives in the 1940s-1950s. G S can also stand for Guss Stahl (cast steel, though that probably doesn't fit here).

It does not match any of the half-dozen names on my list of official Swiss Army knife makers.

Regardless, a very nice find!  :tu:

As a follow-on, I found a reference to a 'Vintage G S Welkut Scissors by Henckles' on an old ebay listing.

The basic pattern is a Farmer's Knife made by  a number of German and Swiss companies.

Quite interesting.  I can see it appearing on that Farmer, but on the Soldier is very interesting.
