Personal Alarm
on: August 15, 2011, 03:43:13 PM
Personal Alarm
When my G/F takes her dog for a walk,
when hes on a lead one or two loose dog's will attack him (maybe twice a year) But if hes off lead there's not a problem
So if we are walking in the countryside and someone approaches
If their dog is on lead no probs
If their dog is off lead she lets Jake off his lead and there's no problem but sometimes she doesn't want him off lead if there are other animals in the area or on private land

(Maybe someone more clever in the way of dogs can explain it to me  )

So I got her an alarm I hope that the other dog will bugger off when it hears this but we will see if it works

Its made in the UK by Sure Guard, Personal Alarm SG100 (about 7quid inc battery)
Its almost 3'' x 2 1/2'' x 1''  7cm x 6cm x 2.5
There are smaller or louder alarms about but I wanted one that would run on a 9v battery not a bunch of button cells
Comes with belt clip, a test button on the side, if you pull the lanyard it comes away with a pin and it only stops when you replace the pin

To me its not such a loud noise but it is a bloody horrible noise

Anyway I will give it to her to test it out  :salute:

If anyone can recommend a good alarm you are welcome to add them to this thread for people who want a smaller/louder/gas powered alarm

This is where I got the above alarm (UK)  :tu:

Should you practice some with just your dog, so she doesn't freak when you set it off?

I will let my G/F guide me when it comes to her dog

He is the friendliest, softest, energetic, and sometimes stupidest dog I have ever seen
I think when he hears this we will need to use the pooper scooper  >:D
