TS, that is quite possibly the  8) est picture I have ever seen. Now all you need is enough to spell 'LEATHERMAN CORE'  :pok:.

This goes against everything I would normally say, but ...

I would suggest against buying a VICTORINOX SWISSTOOL just in case you like it  :D :D :D
For a start you'd probably need a bigger carpet

My only concern would be that I try to use most all my Core's in rotation, save a few shelf Queens. If it were SwissTool's I don't think I would ever have enough together for the photo. (Because, you know, with the soft blades wearing down all the time, and having to send them in for warranty constantly...)

 Well as far as I'm concerned, you've just shown your inexperience of Vic there mate :P :pok:

I'm off round to Farmman's tomorrow to play with axes  :D and return the ST300 we borrowed for the UK meet, so I'll be having another look at the Core then hopefully. I saw it last time, but it was quite a hurried visit so I didn't get a proper look. From what I saw, I liked it I must be honest - it probably wouldn't ever rank as high with me as it does with you Paul (I do prefer outboard tools for a start - and there's no scissors  :ahhh ), but I can't knock anyone for being a fan. I might rip the p155 out of somone who buys 21 of them, but that's a different story :D :D :D

So the big question now mate ... now what? I can't seeing you being content with this and stopping buying tools, so where are you going from here my friend?

*cough* spirit *cough*   :P

To be honest, your original statement somewhat echos my concern. I fully plan on getting a SwissTool one day (presumably in all varieties if it is up to me). But there is the worry that I may indeed like it to much...  :o

To tell the truth, while the Core is my favorite tool, I can not honestly say that if I would have been experienced in the SwissTool, (or the ST300 for that mater) before it, that it would still hold my interest so well. (but I think it would  :D)

When I'm working against the clock for money, I too prefer outboard tools. This is why the Wave is on my belt 10 hours a day. But when there is heavy work to be done, the Core is my answer (26 times over if you count the BO ones). So I always keep one handy.

And I always have some sort of folding scissors in my pocket.

Other than the artwork, there is a somewhat sane reason I have so many. With it being my favorite, and it being discontinued as well, I like the idea of knowing that there is a good chance that I will have one in my possession for the next 40 or so years...

There is the ST300's that I have started amassing collecting, in the different varieties.
As well, when the Core's break with use, LM will more and more be replacing them with the ST300's.

In the intimidate future I have the following in mind:
  • Dissemble one or more Cores, and get the handles custom painted/powder coated in different patterns (no big hurry on this though, I may try doing one myself and see how it comes out)
  • Get hold of an EOD ST300, and put the saw exchanger in a regular ST300

For a start.

As I said before, I've currently got Farmman's ST300 here, and while it's an impressive piece of equipment in many ways, it's just TOO big. (or my paws just aren't big enough, whichever). I don't think I got that with the Core (hopefully I'll check tomorrow). I'm with you on the Wave mate, although mine is a Diet Wave now as all the inboard tools have been removed. One of the reasons the Pulse had to go was the amount of time it took me to get a tool out and put it away again (which for some reason isn't a problem on the modified Kick)

I think so far there's only three things I've got direct duplicates of:
Victorinox Gardener
No 6 Opinel
Mora Miki

Wierd really, I've only got duplicates of really cheap stuff that's not too difficult to replace  :-\

Give the Core a good handling when you get there, and let me know what you think. I've got big mutant like hands and (don't tell anybody this, because I'll deny I ever said it) the ST300 fits a little better in them with its slightly thicker build, than the Core. So I'm thinking that if the ST300 seems too big for you, the Core may be just the ticket (in the 4&1/2 inch style that is)

The Kick is definitely a marvel in its simplicity...

My problem is that once I like a tool and use it regularly, I'm compelled to have at least one or two backups. Probably has something to do with growing up in meager means. Then again, I could just be a decadent American hoarder  :D
