New Pelican LED
on: December 17, 2007, 05:36:07 PM
Well, new for me anyway- I don't know how long these have been around!

I picked it up today while I was at the local outfitters.  I have to say, it's pretty neat and it's bright!  I can't wait for the snow to melt and get my kayak out now!

It's pretty compact, has a cleat for a lanyard, a pretty sturdy clip on the backside and is pretty sturdy feeling.  The only thing is, the head has to be rotated to switch it on.  I know, I am old school and nit picky and whatever else the kids say about guys like me these days, but I like an actual switch.  Other than that, it's a pretty neat little gadget.

I am actually not surprised. I have a Pelican versa-bright and it rocks! it clips to just about anything, or velcro it, or it can be held in place by a magnet.. It also has Red and Green lenses for night vision etc..

I can't understand it from that picture. Where does the light shine out from?

Those two little holes on the upper part? Facing to the right?

If those are the LED's, then why is the rest of the thing so honkin' big?

It's actually not honkin big- the main body has two lithium watch batteries, each about the size of a quarter.  The whole thing is only a little bigger than a Micra.
