Just a warning to anyone looking for these or any other new release tools- deal with legitimate dealers that you know, and make certain they have them in stock before you place an order.

Many dealers jump on the "new tool" bandwagon and pre-sell tools before they have them, then due to production delays, often don't get them until well after they are available elsewhere.  This has happened with a number of tools in the past, and it's not fair for someone else to be holding your money for an indefinite amount of time while everyone around you has the tools in hand already.

I feel very confident in saying that the Multitool.org Store will be doing a group buy as soon as we can get our hands on some Rebars, so make sure you talk to Travis first.

That was my plan all along.  I was going to check with Travis and Amazon first.  I would prefer to deal with Travis though, cheaper shipping!

This is a fair warning folks, and one you ignore at your own peril.  Sadly it seems to happen to someone every time something new comes out. :-\

Travis Autry handles Charter Member business and all our promo stuff. I'm on my phone right now so I can't link to his profile, but you can reach him at travisautry@msn.com.  He also runs the Multitool.org Store at EDCSource.com.

I have only popped into this thread intermittently, but looking at the photos, it appears that the Rebar and ST300 are related in the same way that the PST and original ST and Wave and Surge are related.

Is that a fair assessment?

Yup- it looks to be basically a smaller ST300.

I just noticed something from the facebook pictures.
It looks like the file and saw are stamped from the same die. Their shape is pretty much identical, and so is the fingernail hole.
aren't files supposed to be harder, and saws more springy and flexible?
I hope they heat treat them differently.

Bear in mind the pictures you are seeing are pre-production samples.  They should be close, but not necessarily exactly how the production version will look.  In any case, I fully expect Leatherman will make sure that they are both hardened to their intended purpose- after all, they have experience making saws and files, and if they didn't, they are the ones who would suffer by replacing all the broken ones under warranty.

While I love the scissors on my blast, I am perfectly willing to give them up for an awl and serrated blade.  I always carry a SAK to back it up anywhay, so my scissor needs are covered.

I'd happily drop the serrated blade to get myself some scissors, but it's not exactly a deal breaker.

It's a give and take really.  I am just thrilled to have a new traditional style LM coming out that DOESN'T have OHO blades.  They don't fit my preference and I have been carrying the blast so long I am just a bit bored with it.  I still love it but new toys are fun!

Will there be any MTO folks attending this year's SHOT Show? Am curious as to how the debut of the Rebar will be.

Was not a fan of the Wingman as much as I thought would be. Liked its opening jaws, yet if felt flimsy after carrying a Charge, Crunch, Surge, & Wave so many years. Hope the Rebar will not be made from the sane flimsy structure as the Wingman was.

Very exciting!  Is it sad that SHOT coverage is all I have to look forward to for the next week?  Work sucks, baby doesn't let me sleep, and I'm broke.  So bring on pix of tools for me to drool over!

No problem there!  We'll be updating Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn almost constantly, which should, if all goes well, also update the Events Forum, so hopefully we will keep you pretty amused.

We are also considering a Google+ Hangout at some point, so if you are on Google + add me, just in case.  Grant.lamontagne@gmail.com

I wish they would make a few versions....one with scissors instead of the SE blade, or a knifeless version.

Unfortunately LM isn't known for making different tool loadouts.  They change handle scales and plier heads and finishes on all models, but the dang tool loadout is always the same.  I wish they would take a cue from the other big 4 companies and at least offer a few different layouts, but I won't hold my breath.  I have been wishing they would go the way of SOG for a long time, and make their tools interchangeable by the user without voiding the warranty.  Heck, SOG even lets you change out your Plier heads!

I took apart my sideclip once to clean it and buggered a fastener so I sent it to them with a repair request and a request for a bill so I could pay them but they didn't charge me.  Great service and good on them for doing it but I doubt it's something they would advertise doing that they would get flooded with mods gone bad.  I personally won't send LM a tool I KNOW was damaged through neglect or modification, but not everyone is like that.
