Need Micra help.
on: September 15, 2011, 07:31:09 AM
I have a Micra I would like to take apart and clean up and possibly do my first MT modding on. First off I am just asking for any hints or tips for taking it apart and putting it back together. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Second thing is and easy modding ideas you might have for me to consider. Thank you in advance.  :tu:

If you are looking to do any major mods, you'll have to do the vice grip and pliers trick to get those damn pivot screws apart. Heat up the screw with a soldering iron or a torch to loosen the locktite.

If you aren't doing major mods, and say, grinding material way, try and keep the tool together and clamp the part down in a vice and hack away.

If you need a donor micra, I can easily part with one for the shipping cost :)

I would definitely be taking the Pivot Screws out and taking it apart as it needs a Major cleaning. It is a Camo Micra so how would I heat it up with a torch without ruining the finish? Should I just heat it from the inside of the handle? I definitely might take you up on that donor Micra if I am going to do the Modding for sure.  :tu: Thank you.  :D

I dismantled a micra before using only two pairs of long nose pliers. No no heating.

How about soaking it in some hot water, that might loosen the locktite without ruining the finish  :-\

Good luck with it Captain  :tu:
