Sidekick on ebay!!!! (JOKE)
on: September 28, 2011, 01:41:30 AM
Disclaimer: This post was originally put up as a Gotcha!! type of joke for our good friend and fellow Multitool.org member Dennis (WH867) Much as he would have liked to come, Dennis was not able to join us at the factory that day, so his long time friend Bruce decided to give Dennis his Sidekick tool we received after the tour. Bruce explained this to Mr. Leatherman, who graciously agreed to sign the tool "To Dennis", making it even more special. :)

This thread was intended as nothing more than a fun way to present the tool to Dennis. No actual ebay auction was ever created, and the link shown below goes nowhere. It never occurred to us that this thread might be seen as mean or disrespectful :-\ and our apologies go out to all who may have perceived it that way. I've just gotten off the phone with Bruce and we assure you that no disrespect was meant towards Mr. Tim Leatherman or any of the other great folks we met that day. :salute:

~ Bob and Bruce

....and yes, in case you are wondering, Dennis has been given the Gotcha! :pok: and will be receiving his very special new Sidekick soon. :D

Did anyone notice the Sidekick signed by Tim Leatherman on ebay!!!  The seller claims it is the first Sidekick that Tim Leatherman signed.   Here is a link to the auction:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250898361233?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I grabbed the pictures from the auction:

Wow.  I can't say that I agree with selling a personalized autographed tool before they even hit the shelves.  Tim signed that FOR somebody, not for somebody to profit from.

I would give my eye teeth for a signed Leatherman...but to buy one like that...no. That smacks of something I don't like.

Yes, the listing is now listed as removed.

I don't think he would lie.  Just proves a lot of Ebay sellers are full of smurfpoo.

Seems like I sold this prank pretty well.  The Sidekick was signed by Tim for Dennis (WH867) and while Dan was picking his up I already had Dennis' Sidekick in Tim's hands.  Bob is my witness to Tim looking over the tool to decide where to sign it and Tim said that he had not signed a Sidekick yet this was the first.

There was never a tool listed on ebay the link was just made up.

I even got Dennis with this prank because he did not notice the date on the blade.

Thanks to everyone at Leatherman that helped us get my friend a nice tool personalized and signed by Tim Leatherman.

Bruce

Reminds me of the pawn stars episode where Rick tells Chumly to take a Bob Dylan album to Dylan who's in town to sign it for sale in the shop. Chum gets it done but has it signed "to chumley..." its only worth a fortune to Dennis:)

Good one. Honestly my first thought when I saw the name Dennis was WH867 but I did not want to put anyone on the spot.
