There's a lot about Star Wars that doesn't ring right
Yeah, in Return of the Jedi, a "Legion of the Emperor's best troops" get their asses handed to them on a plate by a bunch of 3 foot tall primitive teddy bears. But yet supposedly these guys had slaughtered Jedi's and conquered the entire galaxy. Something ain't right.

Home ice advantage for the Ewoks, and element of surprise for the clone troopers.  At least, that's how I read it...

Home ice advantage for the Ewoks,
Home field advantage can only help so much. If these guys had conquered the galaxy then to me it would seem like they're the New York Yankees playing a little league baseball team. It just doesn't matter if the little guys are at home or not. I could MAYBE see it if most of them were armed with modern weapons but they had sticks and clubs. C'mon, can those little bows and arrows even DENT their armor?

I'm a huge Star Wars fan but the final battle always bugged me. To take the battle even further, after the Death Star exploded, why didn't the Imperial star fleet keep fighting? The Imperial star fleet was massive compared to the Rebel fleet. They were also supposedly a highly trained military organization so they wouldn't have just quit when their leader died. According to what I gathered from the movie the bulk of the Rebel fleet was there. And obviously enough of the Imperial fleet was there to keep them bottlenecked against the Death Star and the planet. Looking at it honestly, even though the Rebels did manage to blow up the Death Star, the Rebel Fleet should have been slaughtered by the much larger Imperial fleet.

I've been reading quite a few Star Wars books recently, and one thing that is mentioned is that the Emperor was actually using the force to increase the cohesion and efficiency of the Imperial fleet so when he was destroyed the fleet would have sort of fallen apart with out the guiding of the Emperor's mind.

Charity shops are a great place! Don't know about down South but there's usually at least 1 Star Wars book in any given shop.

Is that how they explained it? That seems like a cop out to me. Even assuming that's true, with Palpatine dead they still should have had some semblance of a military force, a military force with a HUGE numerical and equipment advantage.

Plus if he could do that and it seems obvious that none of the Jedi ever had that power then it could be argued that the Dark side of the Force is more powerful than the Good side.

Man, I have spent WAY too much brain power on Star Wars.  :-\

Interesting. I guess they had to come up with something as to why the final battle went the way it did.
