Victorinox Knife Sharpener
on: October 01, 2011, 06:02:47 AM
Has anybody tried this new sharpener from Vic, I'm thinking of getting one but was wondering how long those ceramic rollers would last ?

Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

Whilst I have not tried the [new] Victorinox ceramic roller sharpener, I do have and used for some time now the Minosharp Universal with ceramic roller's for my Global knives, it works very well.

Although I have not put my Vics through it, I shall give it a go :salute:

From my experience from such sharpeners the rollers should last for several years.

I had a japanese one which I used for several years sharpening my kitchen knives (bought for the Global ones), before I got the Lansky system.
The rollers still look as good as new.

sidenote:
The problems with these is that the sharpening angle is fixed, so irrespective of what knife you put in it (Victorinox, mora...), in the end they can only be sharpened at one angle.
If this is designed for Victorinox then the angle should work fine.
