Wenger Toothpicks
« on: April 30, 2021, 10:26:14 PM »
Just curious, why doesn't anyone 3d print replacement Wenger toothpicks?
I can't imagine it would be so hard to do and there must be some kind of market for it.
I certainly would like to be able to buy some...

Me neither. I feel like a complete and utter moron for not stocking up when you could still get them. Whether you lose them, or whether you've bought a used SAK for cheap because those tools were missing, it's a pain in the rear end not being able to get them.

On another note--why doesn't Victorinox continue making them? After all, there are 58mm removable pens in the parts kit,and those haven't been supplied with a SAK in several years, when they were replaced with the retractable model.

Why not just carve one from a piece of wood or plastic.  Who puts that nasty thing in their mouth anyway; having been in your pocket/pouch or who knows where?

I use the toothpicks. Probably more hygienic than a dirty piece of wood or plastic carved with the knife that was also in your pocket and thus is as filthy as the toothpick.

I don't use toothpicks - just floss (which doesn't get carried in pocket)  ;)

You're totally missing out.  It's fun to develop stories about the previous owner and their journeys based on the flavor of their toothpicks.

Oh well, you've never been in the military service? We used eachother's guns, socks, toothbrushed, towels, cars, alibi's and soap. Sometimes we swapped girlfriends, but most of the time that went wrong, especially when you had nothing to swap. So what's wrong with somebody else's toothpick, after cleaning, that is...?
I can't believe I'm writing this...

I bought a bunch of busted up Esquires for their T&Ts. Put them in the ultrasonic cleaner with a bleach solution. Doesn’t bother me a bit.

Surely the toothpick, even your own, wouldn't just be kept "in your pocket" - it's tucked away in the SAK's slot, so any grime in your pocket shouldn't affect it.
