Just a short drive south of here is Gator Land, where they breed these fine reptiles, and sell them (their bi-products at least  :) ).  Last time I was there, I had a great BBQ gator sandwich and fries

BTW, I'm wearing my Timex Ironman today.

My new gshock bit the dust :(. Now I have to contact customer support and send it in. Seems like it a common problem so I hopeful.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Let me know how it works out.  I have to send one of mine in and I've been reluctant to do it.

Well after several emails and 2 calls later, Im happy to report that the watch will be repaired. The bad news is that the brain of the watch is dead therefore, a 3-6 week wait for parts. I really dont mind the wait as long as I get MY watch back cause its sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

Cheers. It's a Panatime strap - vintage oiled or something. I picked it up from Watchuseek. Very soft, and nice quality :)

Do you think the magnet from a slide on compass will affect any of the Casio g-shock models? Those without a compass built in that is?

Are you referring to one of those compasses that goes on the wrist band?

Yes. I have one on my other one with no ill effects so far but still

I'm no expert but it sounds like very little magnetic pull in one of those little compasses, then shielded by its case plus the casing of the watch.  Even if it's a G Shock with various gauges (Altimeter / Barometer / Thermometer) it wouldn't worry me in the slightest.

ive used a few of those little compasses on G-shocks with no problems, my only issue was i kept catching it on things, but a handy little thing to have  :tu: plus a smaller option to a large casio protrek ABC type watch,

Lil' thread bump with a pic of my Casio PAW2000 on a Maratac Zulu band.

This one is getting a LOT of wrist time. So lightweight, many groovy features and very comfy on the Zulu. It came with the standard plastic/rubber type band, which I find sweaty and bulky.

(Image removed from quote.)

I really looked hard at the PAW2000 a while ago, but eventually decided on a Suunto over it. When I have enough spare cash I may pick one up eventually.

My glass bead blasted Citizen BM6400. This picture was taken last summer. I have since swapped out the black Nato strap for a Seiko flat vent rubber strap.

(Image removed from quote.)

Mike
Very nice :tu: Was the bead blasting a custom mod?

Yes, I had Duarte at Northeast Watch Works do this for me several years ago. Back then it made some sense as the watch itself was only $100.00 which included shipping. The bead blasting was right around $50.00.

Unfortunately, the price of the watch has gone up. But, Momentum watches by St. Moritz has some (Atlas, Cobalt Lite, Cobalt V) that look darned near identical minus the Eco-drive. Decent watches that get good reviews and Momentum is fairly active over on Watchuseek forum in the "Affordable Watches" section.

Mike

I was going to say, that looks almost identical to my Momentum Atlas.

I just sold my Timex and have another Momentum on the way, they are great watches for the price.  :D

Speaking of mud, I had the Mudman years ago and it was great except the buttons were hard to push (hurt the fingers after a while).

i found some gasios do have hard buttons, the 285 has metal ones on the left side and flat plastic ones on the right, odd set up but i do prefer the plastic buttons over the metal ones, its all clean now, more than could be said for my bike  ::)  :D

I like the DW9052's buttons a lot but worry that they could get clogged with dirt.

ive had a few003's and they have similar buttons, they do get gunked up but as long as you wash it out daily it should be fine, i prefer casio's with not too many fiddly parts like my dw-285 or the dw-5600e for muddy work  :tu:

A new addition to the family... an AE2000.  It's not a G, but it is 200m W/R and has all the essential features including world time.  It fits my wrist very comfortably too.
