Switchplier
on: January 05, 2008, 09:15:02 PM
I have been interested in the Switchplier for a while now but I can't figure out from the pictures that I have seen how the plier head comes out ???  Does anyone know of anywhere that clearly shows how this works?

Thanks

Benner

It rotates out from the handle.  I'll see if I can video it for you, but bear in mind that it comes out pretty darned quick!

Uploading to YouTube right now.  It's a bit dark, and you can't really see the head shoot out, but I rotate them back into place too so you can see how they go.

I still had my camera/tripod set up from the photos I took for SOSAKOnline last week, so it was no big deal to get it done.  Like I said, not the best quality, but you should be able to figure it out from the vid.

Have you ever seen a youtube video? Having a decent camera to upload a video on youtube is like having a point to the video. 100% unnecessary.  :D

Heh, that 30 second Multitool.org ad is pretty neat, though I'm not sure you could get people to throw money into a hat based purely on one-handed opening tricks.

Anyone considered Video-Reviews of some toolios?

Glad you liked it- I was pretty well just trying out Windows Movie Maker to see if I could make something rather than making anything high quality!  That was the first time I'd ever successfully used that software, and as you can see there are several variations of that commercial.

Now I have just as little knowledge, but much more powerful software!   >:D

Hey, I've got windows movie maker too! In several years I've only opened it half a dozen times, and those were all by accident.

Movie Maker is part of Windows- Anyone suffering from Microsoft disease has it.

I tried using it several times over the years but never had any success  until I did those ads.

I would put it near the top if I were you- they are pretty scarce these days.

Don't confuse it with the Stanley version of the tool, which looks almost identical, but is not made by SOG and has a tendency to break into pieces.

It is quite high up already as I really like it's tool combination.  I have read that the pliers are for "moderate" jobs. Do they feel a little weaker?

I've never felt comfortable using the pliers for anything significant.  While I doubt they are as flimsy as folks say, I'd dust off the old SwissTool if I were you and had some serious work to do.
