PowerLock VS. SwissTool
on: January 07, 2008, 10:59:32 PM
I am really starting to like the tools a lot! But, in a battle who would be triumphant? I would have to say the SwissTool. How about you guys? Once I get another SURGE I am going to do a Surge, Core, SwissTool, and PowerLock shootout review!

Swisstool.  I have owned a powerlock and the gears really dig into your hands and the handle covers aren't that impressive either IMHO.  The Swisstool is just awesome.  :)

Yeah, I personally like it because of the superior rust resistance! But the PowerLock is not a bad tool!

It is far from a bad tool, but I would just prefer the Swisstool.

I'd like to see a Powerlock and Swisstool shootout...I'm waiting for a response from Tim about getting a X model with the bit kit, and it might replace my Powerlock as my EDC.

Swisstool. Here's a hint for the future, if it's ANYTHING versus the Swisstool, pick the Swisstool. Unless it's another Swisstool then you may pick which model you like best.  :D

Seems like a good rule to live by!  :)

I'm not to sure really.  The compound leverage on the SOG is pretty good.

It is, I'm just excited about my new tool but I have an SOG Powerlock and it is a great multi-tool. I have it in my wife's car. It's big though. Definitely not a pocket carry tool.

The compound leverage is a huge factor I'll have to lose when I EDC a Swisstool, and the needlenose SOG head...

If you do a review, would it be worth waiting until the version 2.0 powerlock comes out? It apparently has covers over the gears like the paladin ones do.

It does indeed, and has a better locking mechanism as well.  It certainly has improved.

Yeah, the piano locks do look quite cool! I am really looking foward to the new plier head! The gear covers are a nice upgrade too but I sort of like it without the cover because it would be a hell of an impact weapon if the need be..  But then again theres always the knife blade!
