My Tern for a Byrd!

Well my Byrd Tern arrived on Saturday and saw its visit to work today.So heres a few thoughts and observations.

It arrives in a very nice little green box,and at first touch the G10 scales feel very positive,if a bit impersonal(compared to wooden scales).The blade is lovely and sharp,and opens easily one handed.I love thumb slot on the spine of the blade.I'm not sure if this is only found on Byrds,but it gives a great preasure point for cutting.The snap is not as sharp as some other slippies(even my much favoured SanReMu HO2,and not in the same league as my Taylors EyeWhitness)but you dont feel at risk of acidental closure.Mind you,the finger grip slot for your index finger would prevent full closure anyway!

The thing I'm really liking is the sideclip!Although it looks crude compared to those on say a Boker SubCom,it works so well!tight fit onto the pocket without fear of danaging your trousers cliping it on!

It didnt see much use today,only bashing a few boxes this morning,but it did cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

To my mind the only real downside to the Tern is its apearance.Like Spydies UKPK and Squeek,and other slippie Byrds,it looks a little bit too tactical to be sheeple friendly in the UK.

Overall though,I do like it!Maybe we need one with a Lambsfoot or a Warncliffe blade?

C'mon yer slacker ... pics!  :pok: :pok: :D  :P

I have one on the way myself now. I love the wings slipit so it was inevitable I'd get one of these when they (eventually) came out. Thanks for the thoughts mate  :tu:

Fully agree on the wharnie/lambsfoot shape too - makes an excellent utility blade!

Mine landed earlier and I've had a bit of time with it (carrying and using) so I'll try to get pics and initial impressions posted later too  :tu:

Been carrying the Tern over the last couple of days before Christmas.With lots of deliveries,and box bashing to be done,the conveniance of the pocket clip,and OHO,well it was the Terns turn to shine
