Looks fine to me. I honestly love a good challenge and think to myself, "man, I just did that" and show it off with pride. So, show it off with pride!¡! Knotting/ weaving isn't something that just anybody can do, takes a little skill, as I'm sure that you can attest to.

Oh yes, I kept losing track of that 782 knot, trying to snug it up. Was listening to Joel Osteen on believing you can, and when he was talking about obstacles I was looking at one in the knot. Said just to believe, and to have faith, and I rolled the knot over and gave a tug, there it was!  :D

People that can think several steps ahead and have great dexterity (AND PATIENCE) probably do a lot better at this.

Nice work, looks good to me, love the bead.

You're spot on there, it's not just making knots, it's working out how to make the knots that takes time.

Made a carry handle for my stanley thermos

Still have to burn the ends but that's it. Turks head around the thermos and cobra stitch for the handle.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

What sort of tools & threading needles do you professionals use to make all this stuff nice and tight?

Like your Thermos handle, quite attractive. You surely could make some good pocket change with that skill!

Perma Lok makes good lacing needles and they are on Amazon for pretty cheap. You don't need lacing needles to make tight knots/weaves though. Also, a good pair of hemostats are handy when you do need to use the needles.

Was looking at various rattlesnake knots and sort of pondered something.

Since they are triangular, what if someone could make a thin legged camera tripod where the legs would fold up and into each corner, then have thumb-nuts to hold it into the lanyard - which also double as feet when pulled out.
The attachment screw would be hidden by the knot when installed into the knot, and the camera thread would poke out the bottom which could have a plastic keeper over it.

Not sure how cell & smartphones could be adapted to fit such a rig, but was a crazy that went through my head. As each of those corners could theoretically hold something inside. Even in the center of the knot would contain a thin metal container to hold sewing needles. In case the lanyard would need to be taken apart; it could hold a canvas, sewing, and suturing needles inside for emergency use.

Oh well, was an odd idea. Not sure why I get them.

Say, anyone have an easy pattern or method of making a croakies version for eye/sun glasses? Am liking Ashley's desert camo cord.

You can just take a desired length of paracord, add a cord lock for size adjustment, and eyeglass holders on the ends, sewn in place.  The eyeglass holders can be found at craft stores, like Hobby Lobby/Michaels, or online on ebay, Amazon, etc... Or make your own with small beads/ferrells or coiled wire around rubber o-rings.

Or use small diameter cord for Solomon bar or spool knit versions...  8)

When I went to the eye doc for new specs last year, he said I'd probably need bifocals within the next couple of years, lol.  As it is, I hold knot work up close and look under my eyeglasses to see what I'm working on and tilt my head down and look up/through the glasses to see what's going on on the TV at the same time, and the constant back and forth of doing that and refocasing is hard on my eyes, so I have to limit how much and how often I tie...   :(

Bi-focals, 2 or 3 years now and I still dislike them - 'cept when I need to read fine print and cannot find the magnifying glass.

That's no fun... my hands betray me in similar ways.

Mind you, what you tie will still be quality, even without quantity :salute:

Finally finished up some leather knot work projects, worked on just a little at a time, with my hands bugging me a bit, over the last couple of months, the key chain fob has a paracord core, and the neck lanyard with safety break-away has a 1.4mm nylon strand core...

And even some work on a Rex peeler, lol...  :ahhh

Very nice work indeed David.

What type of leather did you use? How did you find working with leather compared to paracord?

Thanks :)  I used 3/32" goatskin lace, which is okay to work with, flat with smooth and rough sides, cheaper quality stuff than some nice kangaroo leather with a proper beveled edge, but good enough for my uses.

Bloody lovely bit of leather there :salute:

I find myself becoming much more interested in leather these days too... paracord seems to have lost its charm a bit :-\

Two more 4 foot dog leads. These two are off tomorrow to K9 LEO's. It'll be nice to see how well the paracord holds up in use.

(Image removed from quote.)  (Image removed from quote.)

Is there a guide on the technique to join the "end" into the main lead to form the loop handle?

I'm defo making one of these for my pooch with a matching collar!

The ends are spliced into the main length to create the loop. After one or two passes I then make a round end knot (I don't known it's name) to finish. The splice locks the cord in place, you can use any knot you fancy really. Please come back and show us your lead when you have made it.

Ok so far iv refined my first keyring which I think is much better, made a lanyard that attaches to my belt strap and drops into my pocket nicely and made a lanyard for my ID that I have to wear all day that is much lighter than the one the company issued!

Building up to attempting a Turks Head around some pipe tomorrow!

If I can find some thinner diameter stuff I want to wrap the shaft on my mini gerber torch but that's dependant on material!
