Essexman,
What kind of knot did you use to finish the loop on the leash?  That's really quite nice. I made a couple for my dogs but finished them differently.  Those are really quite good!   :tu:

oh this could be tricky. Now at this point I would normally give a link or two showing how to make that knot, but it came from a book!  The book says it's a crown knot followed underneth with a wall knot.  This is after the 4 ends have been weaved back through the 4 cords to make the loop for the handle.  It's a pain to finish neat. I pulled the knot tight, cut and sealed the four ends as short as possible, then pulled the ends backwards into the knot to hide them. This left a bit of slack in the knot, so I then worked the knot tight in reverse pulling the little slack back in the 4 cord weave. Simples see.

These are much stronger than I thought............

Before selling these I gave a one to a friend at work to try out as I don't have a dog.  At first he wasn't happy because he said "that cord don't look very strong". I explained about paracord, he didn't look very sure about it..

So the other day he told me (with a smile on his face) how he towed his classic VW camper out of his lockup using the dog lead , as that was all he had in the car. He put the handle around the tow bar of his car and looped the clip around the camper bumper and clipped it back on the lead. No damage to report!!

Ah bugger, I did a while ago!  Sold them all. My good wife found about 15 off 22mm SS bearing on eBay some time ago for a bargin price, but the seller has gone now  :(

BBuuuttttt there are other items you can use,..... I have 22mm wooden balls (no rude jokes please) again from eBay  and a nice collection on mouse balls ( I said NO rude jokes!) given to me by work  :D

Feel free to PM me if there's anything I can do to help.

Off to bed now, I'll catch up tomorrow.

I had to cut the other lanyard I made for my Insingo off because I didn't like the way the skull bead was rubbing against the blue annodized back spacer. I went with a round sinnet lanyard with a completion stitch this time.

(Image removed from quote.)

That looks great  :tu:

I would like to give it a go; the actual weave I should be ok with but will struggle with the completion stitch  :-\

Are there any simple instructions for that? :D

I figured it out by trial and error. What you need to do is make one more weave but keep it loose then pull each of the strands of cord under and trough.

Thank you kind sir  :salute: :tu:

Got another query :D  This may be simple but I can't see it  :-\

I am planning to use this through a lanyard hole on my knife. Do I start with the cord fed through the hole and a bit of excess?

Hope you get shot of that cold soon  :)

No problem, glad to be of help.

I would say there's more than one way to attached a lanyard. If you can fit two cords through the hole than make a lanyard with enough spare length to fed through as shown here - http://www.knivesandlanyards.com/tutorial_on_stringing_your_lanya.htm

Otherwise you have to build/make the lanyard on the knife. Therefore start with one cord through the hole leaving a bit before you start knitting.

Cheers for the well wishes, cold is now an Respiratory tract infection, great fun. It's going, but slowley.

You can make a monkey's fist without anything inside easy enough.

But I'd recommend bracelets as they're great things to learn with :)

I used to come here a lot.
