75 watt hid too much spill, please help
on: December 13, 2011, 06:24:30 AM
I bought a new hid light on Ebay. I have seen comparisons on cp forums and it should be tons brighter than my tk70 but it isn't. Has more light but should alot and throws less than the fenix. Is there anything I can do to focus it like build an extension over the lens?

Can you post info on the light. Size of the lens , etc.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

The reflector size, and how well it can focus will be the big factors here...
Just don't say fecal coagulation.  :twak: - Mr. Whippy

You have two ways to decrease spill:

1.  Bigger, deeper reflector or,
2.  Add optics.

I don't know if either of them  are an option on an HID , but it really depends on the size.

thanks guys I really need to get a computer
the diameter is about 2 inches and 3 quarters on the inside of a lens
the outside of the lens is 3 inches and 1 quarter
the bulb goes right to the edge of the lens. that is the problem with the bulb so close to the lens the light just spills out
is there any reflective material I can use to create a large a reflector around the lens?
thank you
