I HATE it when "item is not as described"
on: December 17, 2011, 08:33:59 PM
Got another Grand Prix.  Pic used showed no sewing eye, and round can-keyed Phillips.  This would COMPLETE my Grand Prix collection....

But OH, NO!!!  "Item not as described."

Yes, it is brand new (but w/o box).  Not a mark on it.  Never used.

HOWEVER:

- Phillips is older, quared one.
- Awl has no hole in it.

So, pre-1982 era.

UGH!!!!

Keeping it to replace Grand Prix with wear.  This one is cherry.

Back to drawing board!!!

I did leave the following comment on feedback: "A for condition, C for item description..not as described."

What did they do? Did they take pictures of a knife and then send you a different one?

It gives you the smurfs when that happens. I bid and won a trailer on Ebay went to pick it up, & it was full of rust. Told the bloke i wouldn't give him 2 cents for it, and he has wasted my time, at which point he fliped out and tryed to bully the money out of me. Things didn't end very well for him that day  :twak: . I think he will be more accurate in his descriptions on Ebay in the future.

I hear yah! I just got a knife in yesterday, described as a 3.25" knife. Looks at it- large blade/small blade/corkscrew, scissors, openers/awl. Corkscrew is eyeless, there is no hook hump, 4 turn corkscrew which is grooved. No T&T.

I'm thinking Climber Small. That fits the description.

As soon as I touch it, I remember what I didn't do. I didn't count the length relative to the sheild. And I should have, becuase it feels heavy. Get it out of the envelope and SMURF SMURF SMURFITY SMURF! So $13 with the shipping for an early '80s, 91mm Climber in a condition I wouldn't have paid $5 for at the flea market.

I buy a lot of knives, so am all too familiar with the "not as described" syndrome. Here's my most recent:

Described as: SwissChamp XXLT. Excellent price. It arrives:

So far, so good. Open up - uh oh, that's not an XXLT:

What is it? Um... it's a SwissChamp XL! Considerably more rare than an XXLT:

Interestingly, I already have one, so this one is going to go up for trade soon.

Better surprise than most.

You could enter a SAKwiki entry for it; it might help get people interested in trading for it.  :)
