A bargain at twice the price....  didn't want them to get another knife.  these guys are through on ebay [I HOPE].  The one bidder was still stupid enough to retract his bid... that means the othe bidder must be the brains behind this scam.

They got it for $49 and still left bad feedback? Now I get it. Can't you just cancel the item and this will cancel the feedback?

Probably because the seller did not ship this scammer the knife.  I  :salute: the Seller.  If I buy from him I'll note in the feedback the neg. feedback is from scam seller.

This seller is pretending he is innocent so he leaves neg. feedback if he does not get the item from the auction he scams.  He is registered only under a numeric user ID so his smurf cannot be traced to other forums where I'm sure he is doing the same thing in another fashion.  If ebay bans him he will just come back with a new user ID, he's in China they can do little.   He most likely has other user ids.

They are still allowed to do it because ebay moves very slow, they are a money grabbing bunch of &^&%^% and they don't really care about any of their customers (buyers or sellers).

It will be interesting to see what they finally do, but at most I suspect they may institute some new trading rules. and they may prefent his partner from retracting anymore bids.  Mean while he is still out there buying, I don't know if his buddy is still out there helping him scam auctions.  Anyone know?

Different bidders, but these two auctions look a little suspicious:

VICTORINOX Alox RARE Pioneer Settler NIB - 0.8050.20 - $153.50

That seller's got some more vintage stuff, for normal prices too : a Solo, a Seaman and a Woodsman...
I'm interested in the Seaman, but a little weary of buying now...

The high bidder right now is a Norwegian who bids high pretty often and I have never suspected him of any strange bidding tactics.

The Chinese identity fellow who is involved in these strange bidding retractions I sold to a couple of months back and had no problems. It was a minor amount of money and he said he is a student and is located in California right now. I did a Google search on that number he uses and found some kind of website in China that he evidently uses.

http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=en&a=http://tieba.baidu.com/i/151496114/others

It seems he and the other one is only using that retracted bidding tactic on higher end SAK's.

As far as eBay goes, I have turned in folks for shill bidding, and other types of scams that I found out about over the years and never have I seen a member kicked off for it. Instead they change user identities.

The seller is great, and unless you see some strange bidding on the items you are interested in you should be OK.  And I won't be bidding on those nice items you are eyeing so many would consider that a plus as well.

That's so nice of you, but I'm kinda rethinking these knives.
I found a Cybertool 29 I really really really like/want, but the seller doesn't offer international shipping.
I'm trying to get him to use insured shipping or FedEx or something, so he doesn't need to worry about losing the shipment, so my budget's gonna go to that. So bid away!

[update]
Got a reply from the seller, he just forgot to add the international shipping. I just thought he wasn't willing to ship overseas. I've had replies from other sellers in that way.

The high bidder in those auctions is legitimate - he bought a couple things I had for sale a while back. Nice guy in Norway with a serious alox addiction.

Jazz, Ya those auctions all seemed to go well, but those two knives went for some pretty good coin, I guess a couple collectors were missing those ones, or wanted these nice specimens.

--

Dodge, in the past I often had to contact sellers to see if they would ship overseas about 50/50 on the chance they would.  I don't bother so much anymore as I hate bugging people, but it is worth checking if you really want something.

Man this really chaps my hide. I can't imagine that this is the only area this is happening in, either. I collect watches along with SAKs and I'd bet dollars to donuts that there's a lot of this going on in that arena as well.

I hope Ebay bans their entire IP.

A variation: I've run into a couple of cases where I lost the bid, then within the hour was offered a second chance on the knife for my maximum bid because the "winner" had backed out. Makes you wonder if some dealer was using a shill to run up the price, then canceling his bid.

This happens regularly and is generally legit.

Sometimes the seller has two of the same items and can sell them both this way, by selling to the highest bidder and to the 2nd, 3rd highest too, for the amount they bid.

The funny think is that the highest bidder ends up paying more than the other, lower bidders, for the same item, so he is not actually a "winner"

The same buyer 3***3 is still active and bids also at the same items I want.
I have mail contact with the seller and sent him a link to this topic.
He is worried now and thinks he was scammed before because 3 of
his items are sold to cheap at this same guy.
He don't know or can't see if this was happend by retractions.
That buyer does not use the trick always, some are regular biddings.
The 3 biddings he won from these seller are 3 alox burgnard SAK's.
180767496020,  180767496622,  180767497096.
Did some one here lost this biddings?

This seller sold yesterday at ebay one Farmer with bail for $411.00
and one Settler for $237.00, but these were regular biddings.
I won yesterday from him an red Rancher without keyring for an nice bid.
This seller has many nice alox items for sale I think but now 3***3 steps
in I will not bid against him.
Last week 3***3 was not bidding, but now at the new listed items he bids at all.
The seller is 'cpasion' and sells new/old alox SAK's.

No reason to worry unless you see another bidder below his max bid and the bid is exceeding item value before the end of the auction.  Otherwise they are not able to keep legitiment buyers from bidding.  The buyer was not scamming every sale... and I'm not sure if he has done any more since his scam was uncovered, his buddy may have had some restrictions placed his bid retractions.

Guys:

Thanks for the heads up on this scam.  I have canceled all bids by 13817224310 on my current auctions and have blocked this user and the other user special_justicker from any further bidding on my auctions.  This of course will only work until they change user id's and start all over again.

Anyway, please post this information on the forum because my reputation is everything to me and I'm sickened by this practice.  By the way the fellow from Norway is my best customer.  He is 100% legit and a very nice person to deal with.  He does bid high, and as a seller I appreciate that, but as a buyer I can see how that is sometimes hard trying to beat him.

Take care, happy bidding, and please pass this along to anyone concerned.

Thanks.
